We had a reservation for 6:30. We arrived at 6:15 and were seated promptly enough. We sat there for about 25 minutes before the waiter came. We ordered drinks. He came back with the drinks a few minutes later. Took our orders, didn't go over the menu or anything, not that big of a deal I guess. Maybe it was his first day or something. Wasn't really a very good waiter. Couples of both sides of us complained about the amount of time it had taken to get their meals and ask if they could just pay for what was brought to them at that point, which was drinks. We had been there a half hour longer than the one table, yet they were waited on first. Anyways, we finally got our food, the one couple left, the other one started getting their food after they had complained. The food was actually good, but it took over 2 hours to get it. We had been there before and it was a decent dining experience, but not this time. I may give them another try sometime, but not in the near future. They were understaffed apparently for this Valentines Day Meal. If service was that bad all the time, I'm sure they would be out of business. We both agreed that we would have been better off going to Hardee's for a #4 meal. The End.

They were closed. Drove an hour to have dinner based on their availability on OT.

This is a wonderful restaurant. We were very pleased with everything. It was an awesome place to celebrate our 52nd anniversary with friends. I very highly recommend it. And Sadie was a very good waitress!!

My husband and I were visiting Elkins for his birthday. We wanted to celebrate the evening with a quiet dinner. This was the perfect place. The food was delicious and our server was the sweetest person. She had worked there for over 4 decades and was very charming. She helped us decide what was good and then even talked husband into dessert. Will visit again.

During our 3 day visit, we ate at 1863 every night. Why did we return? The staff is courteous and welcoming. The menu choices are so individualy unique that we had to try more than one. The prices are very reasonable. 1863 is locally owned, a feature that is important to us at home and on the road. Consider 1863 to be your first choice in Elkins, WV.

Service was a bit slow. Took long time to get first round of cocktails. On line menu and actual menu differ. It was ok.

We have eaten often at the 1863 Grill and it is always outstanding--Great service, good food and pleasant atmosphere. Recommend it highly. Comment: Lowell would have loved to have had "liver and onions." (Smile)

Staff was nice but ....... The noise level was excessive throughout our visit. The waitress was new and not very accommodating. She left the bill/check in middle of table in the middle of our meal while we were still eating. We wanted coffee and was advised WE COULD GET IT OURSELVES. The food offered at the buffet was good but cold, they ran out of salad lettuce and were very slow with replenishing it, tongs for serving it weren't replaced. Also, the layout of the buffet area is very awkward, not organized as well as it could be and the entrance to/from the area was too tight for people to pass by each other. It needs a redesign! We drove over 50 miles to visit and this was my 3rd visit to 1863. I won't be recommending it or be in any hurry to return.

Service was great, the shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta didn't not have any flavor, but thats the only complaint I have, very accommodating though
