34 is Chef Emeril Lagasse’s first restaurant dedicated to the cuisine of his Portuguese heritage. He was inspired by his late mother, Hilda, who influenced his interest in cooking when he was a child growing up in Fall River, MA. The 245-seat restaurant is adorned in shades of green – Emeril’s signature color – wood accents and ornate Portuguese tiles. A painting of a rooster, a national Portuguese symbol of good luck, greets guests at the entrance. Once inside, a jamon bar with countertop service and tile-clad DJ booth are focal points of the space. The restaurant celebrates not only the food and design of Portugal but also the sounds, with music from local and touring DJs.

The service was very nice. The drinks were delicious and all of the food items were very good. Very delicious. will definitely go back again to experience more of the menu.

The atmosphere was good. Quantity of food was half as expected. We were interrupted by a spilt beer on my moms back by a waitress and wasn’t given any compt meals. May come again.

Jamon de Belotta is a must. As is the Pineapple Foster dessert. Overall a great experience. We will be back!

This restaurant has a lot of potential. Very interesting menu. The jamon was excellent. The bread basket with three butters was excellent. The Manila clams with pork was enjoyable. Egg custard cups were tasty. Service was excellent and the food comes out of kitchen efficiently. Space is beautiful.

We loved our meal! The sangria was great, tasted like Christmas in a glass. Food was delicious and service was wonderful.

I wanted to love this place but it’s a menu with some hits and some misses. Our main dishes were plated at different times and I was halfway through mine before I got my glass of wine. Croquettes with jamon jam were a joke. Clams were good, octopus was not. Pasteis de nata- outstanding.

We were seated at the “ham bar” right next to the kitchen. Overall experience , food and value was great. Will definitely go again soon.

Amazing from start to finish! Service was top notch. Delicious, authentic Portuguese selections. Bread & butters are a must. We loved the Porco Alentejana, a signature dish of Portugal. Meat was so tender! Morcela de Arroz was perfect! Octopus was delectable! Shrimp San Miguel was so flavorful- be sure to dip some bread in the molhos if all these dishes! Beautiful restaurant! We hope to return next time we come to NOLA.
