Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. The bar is always bustling and the patio echoes with the cry – “a Bouzy!” every time a bottle is sabered tableside. In fact, most tables will have multiple wine buckets close by, keeping the bubbly cool. The fresh, ripe American menu features seasonal seafood, salads, small-shareable plates, large raw bar and prime meats. The wine list curated by Virene, is both the best-priced on bubbly and wines in the city. The interiors have a sophisticated rustic vibe with exposed brick, reclaimed woods and a color palate of creams and blues. The effervescent appeal of bubbles is reflected in a light installation that mimics bubbles floating overhead.                                                                           The food was delicious and flavorful. Enjoyed our serving he was very engaging. It was raining outside but the patio felt so nice and warm. We completely enjoyed ourselves.

                                                                          Lovely dining experience -- very nice for a business meeting during seasonal holidays -- food was great overall, and the caviar special was tempting but we just had appetizer, entree, and dessert with coffee. All was excellent. If I could nitpick, I would say bring a small spoon when you serve the espresso and bring a loaf of hard crusted bread when you serve the escargot. But otherwise, all was very nice, thanks!

                                                                          Ordered the Moules frites. Moules were very sandy. I've ordered moules all over the world, and this is the first time I've ever had them served without crusty bread to sop up the broth. When I tasted the broth I realized I wasn't missing much; it had flavor, but it wasn't anything that made me want to come back for more. The frites were ok. Glad they were served with mayo! If you've ever lived in Europe, however, you know that what many Americans call frites are not frites. Seafood pie was good but uninspiring. The Veuve Cliquot was a generous pour and served at an awesome COLD temp--loved it!
