With a passion for family and food the Lujan sisters came together to open Agave Azul Kitchen & Tequila Bar in 2012. Their goal was to bring together a gathering of authentic Mexican home cooking that stuck to their roots. Their family originated from Zacatecas, Mexico and then came to Hughson, California to begin farming. With this heritage came recipes passed down from generation to generation. Food was the center of their life and growing up on a local farm allowed their family to cook at home with food grown on their land. Sandra and Gabby originally had the thought of opening Taqueria El Agave, but it quickly transformed into a full kitchen serving some of their favorite dishes such as pollo con crema y rajas. The unique thing about Agave Azul is their attention and focus to the quality of each of the ingredients that goes into their recipes and their commitment to never sacrificing on quality home grown ingredients.

Took 40 minutes for our order to be taken. 25 minutes for our drink order to be taken. 15min for bar drinks to come out. Appetizers came out before bar drinks. Food is always delicious. It's the only reason we go back. And ambiance. Service is always lacking. Took over 15 minutes to get greeted. Then were rushed at the end because Its past closing but our reservation was more than enough time ahead. If service didn't take so long , and the server had better time management then we could have been finished by 10pm.

Service awesome food was great and the house margaritas were the best we had in a while we lived in Hughson for two years and this was are first time and we were very happy with everything see you again soon

I rarely have a bad experience in this restaurant but today was the day. Service was very inattentive and rarely checked on us. My order was wrong and when I sent it back they literally just took off done of the ingredients I asked to not have on my meal, and the waiter seemed annoyed I said something. Our main waitress was a bit rude and dropped off the tab but didn't come back for us to pay. This was very unusual as I've always gotten great service.

I had the tacos with rice and beans lunch special—it was so flavorful! The service was great, and the tablet checkout made everything quick and easy.

Great food and drinks. The service was also excellent every one from our server to the others who helped bring out our food and drinks. Overall a great place!

Agave Azul is a great restaurant and has great food. We’ve come here very often, but I have noticed when there are events and there are too many customers the service is not so good. You have to look for your server for water refills or to ask for food that hasn’t been brought out yet.
