Akahoshi Ramen is a humble ramen shop in the city of Chicago. Everything is made in the restaurant, including all soups, seasonings, toppings, and noodles.

We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect.

Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Our ramen is influenced by Japanese and American ideals in cooking.

We hope you will join us to enjoy a bowl of ramen, made with the respect and passion it deserves.

Dagli editor di OpenTable: One of Bon Appétit's 2024 best new restaurants in America, this Logan Square spot is the brainchild of Mike Satinover, better known as "Ramen Lord" to the fan base he built up over a decade posting about ramen on Reddit. Get comfortable at one of the spacious booths, or watch the action at the counter overlooking the kitchen, and choose from four different ramens like the Akahoshi Miso, with pork chashu and bamboo shoots. Each bowl is made with incredible attention to detail, showcasing just how nuanced ramen can be.

This was one of the best ramen experiences I’ve ever had in my life!!! I got the Midwest Shoyu and it was incredible. The broth was so delicious and the chashu was perfectly charred. I often struggle with too big of a portion in ramen places but this was just right. Service was amazing and so quick!

Akahoshi is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by the warmth of the staff, the ambience, and the smell of the most delicious ramen you will experience in Chicago - or maybe anywhere! I was seated at the counter facing the kitchen and it was a marvel to watch each bowl put together with such care and attention. The drinks are fantastic - from cocktails to smooth sake, and the food… I’ll be dreaming of it from now until the next time I’m able to come in. The flavors & textures present your mouth with a WORLD of excitement and comfort. Everything about Akahoshi feels intentional and carefully done. Not to mention, everyone who works here is kind, attentive, but not overbearing or pushy in the slightest, allowing you to savor every minute of your experience. I could go on and on forever, but you just have to come see for yourself!!

Vibes were there, food was not. I’ve been to a few of the ramen spots around the city but this one has the most hype. The ambiance was great, service was awesome, it wasn’t too loud, it just ended up that I’ve had better ramen at other shops. Wouldn’t be my first choice, but if I happened to be in Logan and was craving ramen I’d go back.

By far the best ramen I’ve had in my life. It was certainly far better than furious spoon or ramen San.

Akahoshi Ramen did not disappoint in their flavors. Their ramen was perfect for a cold winter evening. What was frustrating was having a set reservation time and those who sat in our booth prior to us overstaying their time, resulting us to wait 25 minutes over our initial reservation time. We appreciate the host in apologizing and compensating our time as I know this was not their intention. However, there should be a plan in place when this results as it becomes difficult standing in the front where there is limited space.

Phenomenal experience. The ramen is just top tier. Service was amazing. Would highly recommend this place to all Ramen lovers.
