Amalia Fumelli is the inspiration behind Amalia’s Authentic Italian Restaurant. She was born in Italy in 1932, and grew up on a farm. As she grew up, she took an interest in cooking and learned everything about the Italian kitchen from her mother and grandmother. For countless hours each day, Amalia began making hand-made pasta with her rolling pin on an old, wooden table. After many years, she had mastered her pasta creations through her skilled handiwork, precise cutting skills, and the amount of love she put into her work.

Over time, Amalia has passed all of her secrets and knowledge about food along to her children and grandchildren. One grandchild in particular, Filippo Fanfani, gained a passion for the art of cooking through her guidance. As a child, he spent all his days at his grandmother’s house preparing meals for his family. The two have a strong bond, that began with their conjoining love of creating meals that are enjoyable for everyone.

    Excellent experience. Each meal was perfect and served perfectly. Best pasta I have had in the Raleigh area. My husbands veal chop was a real tomahawk chop served exactly as ordered. The lentil side dish was very different and delicious as was the radicchio salad. Both were enough to share.

    The best fine dining in Wake Forest. The veal chop was phenomenal. Every course was fantastic. Our server Natalie was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable about the menu. Pricing for the quality of meal, portions, and experience is hard to beat. Can’t wait to come back.

    Being attended to by the owner and hearing about his family’s legacy was truly an amazing experience and so special. Wonderful for a special occasion!

    Food is always good here. Just prefer the last menu better. The burrata salad needed more burrata in it. Otherwise was a nice experience.

    New to town and so happy my wife and I tried this place. It is tucked in a busy community but still has a great atmosphere.

    A very enjoyable dining experience set in the old farmhouse on Main Street in Wake Forest. Our party of four were immediately seated in one of the two main dining room areas. Beautiful interior with tables spaced to provide space and privacy while dining. The food is very much Authentic Italian and our server was very knowledgeable in wine selections and pairings with the entree’s. Very much an upscale restaurant yet prices were what I considered to be reasonable. Portions were large, made fresh and hot when presented at the table. Service was not rushed but paced to provide time to enjoy our food and company. This was not our first visit to Amalia’s, and we were informed that the menu had been updated with new dishes. Everyone agreed at our table that the entree’s were excellent and the service was spot on. Make your reservations in advance as the restaurant books fairly quickly.
