Amalia Fumelli is the inspiration behind Amalia’s Authentic Italian Restaurant. She was born in Italy in 1932, and grew up on a farm. As she grew up, she took an interest in cooking and learned everything about the Italian kitchen from her mother and grandmother. For countless hours each day, Amalia began making hand-made pasta with her rolling pin on an old, wooden table. After many years, she had mastered her pasta creations through her skilled handiwork, precise cutting skills, and the amount of love she put into her work.

Over time, Amalia has passed all of her secrets and knowledge about food along to her children and grandchildren. One grandchild in particular, Filippo Fanfani, gained a passion for the art of cooking through her guidance. As a child, he spent all his days at his grandmother’s house preparing meals for his family. The two have a strong bond, that began with their conjoining love of creating meals that are enjoyable for everyone.

Variazione di Parmigiano - Parmigiano Reggiano cheese variation. 24 months aged Flan, 30 months aged Fondue, 18 months aged crisp. The trifecta of Parmigiano was a journey of silky smooth, velvety, creamy, and crispy textures, coupled with the flavors that include sweetness, tangy, and savory flavors coming together as an outstanding homage to the different ages of the cheese. Unfortunately, visually, the dish was very simple and somewhat plain, providing a very disappointing first impression and seeminly was missing something. Bucatini all'Amatriciana - Imported Bucatini pasta served with classic guanciale, tomato and pecorino romano sauce. The Bucatini pasta was cooked al dente with a rich, savory, tangy, and sweet tomato sauce coupled with guanciale which provides a salty richness. Orecchiette Pugliesi Imported fresh Orecchiette pasta with homemade italian sausage, sautéed broccoli rabe. The ear-like pasta was cooked al dente mixed with the sauce, sausage herbs and spices, and broccoli rabe providing a complex depth of flavors, expertly executed dish with both tastes and textures. Branzino arrosto. Horrible. I have eaten Branzino all over the world at some of the top restaurants around the globe, and this dish was by far the worst rendition of Branzino I have ever seen. The fish was in no way a traditional branzino. It was the size of a tilapia, dry as could be, and the breading they were using on the outside was a reminiscence of a fried fish you would get a local fish fry. Agnello Scottadito - Domestic lamb chops marinated with anchovy fillets, mustard, lemon zest, garlic, and sage; served with almond gremolata. The lamb chops were tender and succulent and cooked to perfection with a slight char on the outside that enhanced the richness and flavors of the marinade. The anchovy fillets are subtle and not at all noticeable. The blend of flavors of the mustard, garlic, and sage really created the right aroma and taste to compliment the chops.

Without question, the upscale dining destination in the area. Fantastic food, exceptional service. You get what you pay for. Worth it!

My girlfriend and I have come here for many special occasions. Every single time, Amalia’s has been spectacular. The owner, Filippo, makes your heart feel at home. Our server, Logan, has always impressed us with his professionalism, and knowledge. We love Amalia’s.

Amalia’s is a lovely, one-of-a-kind restaurant that we choose for special occasions. The customer service is incredible and personal, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is quaint and quiet, perfect for a special occasion. We love the fireplaces in each room, the history of the home, and the attentiveness of the staff.

My wife and I dined at Amalia’s for our anniversary and our first time experience was outstanding. The atmosphere, staff, and meal was amazing and we will return again soon.

Fantastic, fine dining only min from my home. I love that Wake Forest has such a wonderful restaurant right here in town. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, you feel appreciated as a customer. The menu is delicious, the wine list is very robust and overall the restaurant and the experience is spectacular! This restaurant never disappoints. I highly recommend you try Amalia soon!

Outstanding food & service—our waiter was phenomenal—we absolutely love this restaurant and would recommend anyone looking for a high-end restaurant for a special occasion to make a reservation at Amalia’s!!!

Having recently relocated to the area, we were looking for something special for New Years Eve and Amalia’s did not disappoint. The atmosphere was charming, the waiter was welcoming, informative and the food was amazing. Our party of 2 shared the salmon appetizer for the pasta course we chose the papadelle with duck, and Veal chop bolognese was the entree. The wine menu is extensive, and the recommendation was the perfect accompaniment for our dinner. Wonderful restaurant for a special occasion.
