Artisan Southport is excited to be showcasing some of the terrific and too often overlooked winemaking from right in our backyard; the Finger Lakes. Ravines is a small, hands on operation that has it’s roots in European sensibilities, but while also understanding the unique and special climate associated within the Seneca Lake AVA. Born in Denmark, Morten Halgren grew up on an estate in Provence, received a degree in Physics, then ones in Enology & Viticulture. After stops in Bordeaux (Cos d’Estournel), Texas and North Carolina, he eventually became the head winemaker at Konstantin-Frank for many years before the opportunity presented itself to start his own winery with his wife Lisa.
