Atmosfera affascinante

Avelo Restaurant is located in a heritage townhouse on a quiet street in Yorkville and serves some of the city's finest plant-based cuisine. Our aim is to deliver an extraordinary and immersive dining experience where the servers guide guests through an exploration of many small plates highlighting seasonal ingredients while offering insight into each dish. We also offer an optional wine pairing and are able to accommodate many dietary restrictions with advance notice.

Avelo hosts two dinner seatings per evening where guests choose between the 5-course or the 8-course* tasting menu. The seating times are 5-6:15pm and 7:45-8:30pm.

Our meal at Avelo was a “first” for our family. We, bravely, brought our two children with us for a special dinner not knowing what to expect. The moment we stepped in, we were welcomed warmly and the server knew of our indicated allergies (that we indicated online) before we sat down and confirmed them once again before every course… She even went as far as to wash her hands before serving our children due to possible cross contamination. The food was creative and fun, but most importantly, it was SAFE for our children. The food was delicious and although many of the dishes were a little too “sophisticated” for our children, our son ate a full course of Brussel sprouts, our daughter finished the mushroom course, and they both loved trying new things. We clearly were the outliers bringing our family to dine for the early seating, and if we return to Toronto we would return to Avelo without the children.

Servers were all lovely, every course was unique and delicious, and they had multiple non-alcoholic options which is always a fun treat. Definitely worth an experience if you’re vegan in Toronto. And they made sure my soy-allergy didn’t interfere at all with having the complete experience.

Avelo is among the finest dining experience with artful, beautiful, thoughtful creations and presentation. Every course is full of nuance and delicious taste sensations. The wine pairings are complementary and enhancing. The service is impeccable. All staff are warmly engaging, very knowledgeable, and committed to the whole experience. I give Avelo my highest recommendation, visiting since 2021.

Feel completely dissapointed and robbed. Beware vegan foodies. Cheap establishment. Staff does not want to go over budget and give you a 2nd bite-sized croissants to finish the pate it comes with. Misleading portions and shared desserts?? FREEZING cold establishment will have you leaving with frostbite in hands and toes, staff do not care when you express your concerns, some dishes gave me a stomach ache, or had me rushing to chug down water, tip is mandatory and no choice to remove it. Unacceptable. Terrible experience.

This seems to have started with an unfortunate misunderstanding of the concept of tasting menus, and turned into a vendetta, with multiple insulting comments from 2 people on our Instagram, and dramatically reviews on at least 4 sites. Tasting menus involve multiple courses, so the portions are necessarily small. The idea is to "taste" a variety of items. It's expensive because it involves many hours of preparation, cooking, serving, etc. Yes, we served a dish with a miniature croissant. No, we don't always have extra portions, because we would have to throw food out every night. The croissants are hand made, baked just before service. Some guests have commented that they were the "best croissant" they've ever had, vegan or not.

This is the first time my husband and I did an 8 course tasting. With incredibly knowledgable staff, mind blowing and complex food, this was a night to remember. When a taste can bring you back to your childhood (much like what happened in Ratatouille), it’s nothing I had ever experienced anywhere else. Even as a non vegetarian, I did not miss the absence of meat. A must “go-to”.

I’m neither vegan nor vegetarian but I wanted to try this restaurant to experience something different. It was a wonderful dinning experience. The food was amazing and the service was terrific. The quality of the food was impressive. The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. My own vegetable dishes just don’t cut it anymore. It is pricey but, in my opinion, it’s worth it.
