Balboa Surf Club is an upscale American restaurant in the heart of Uptown, Houston, located in Post Oak Plaza. The menu places an emphasis on fresh seafood from around the country, including a curated sushi program, as well as salads, hearty sandwiches, a standout hamburger, and hand-cut steaks.
Beverage selections include classic house cocktails, and an extensive yet approachable wine list.
The dining room is made up of lush plants, intimate booths as well as a full service bar and lush patio.
Balboa is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner.

                                                                                        It was my first visit with a friend today at lunch. First, kudos to the owners for the restaurant design!! Loads of beautiful walnut and leather, sophisticated lighting and special features including a skylight which graze-lights the fluted walnut walls!! Service was attentive and helpful. Water glasses were always full. The menu perfectly encompasses a broad range of seafood prepared from raw to fried - even a few beef items to round out the choices. I had the Sushi-Salad - perfect portions, nicely plated and tasty!!! My friend had the Niçoise salad which also got high praise. Balboa is on my “regular” list from now on - I am a fan!!

                                                                                        Every dish we ordered was fabulous! The restaurant was an excellent place to celebrate our girlfriend Christmas dinner!

                                                                                        I have eaten here at least a dozen times and this was the first time that the food did not meet my expectations. The tuna burger was a weird consistency. I should’ve sent it back, but didn’t.

                                                                                        This was one of the best steaks that I have had, from the amount of char, to perfectly cooked, and to being very tender with almost no fat. Everything was outstanding. Our server, Mila, was excellent as well.

                                                                                        A few times and really enjoyed the food. This time had to send our steak back because they were undercooked and the service seemed less than it had been in the past. People kept filling up our water glasses with regular water when we had purchased a sparkling bottle and taking plates off the table when we weren’t done yet. I realize they use the team approach for weight staff, but I felt like we were getting swarmed every minute.

                                                                                        Outstanding Dining Experience! This restaurant exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we arrived, everything was seamless. The hostesses were welcoming and ensured our reservation, including our specific table request, was perfectly prepared. No waiting, just flawless service! Our server, Kyra, was an absolute delight—pleasant, attentive, and genuinely kind. She made the experience even more enjoyable. And the food? Absolutely phenomenal! The fried oysters were crispy and bursting with flavor, while the salmon sushi was incredibly fresh and delicious. The combination of outstanding food, excellent service, and a wonderful ambiance makes this place a must-visit. Highly recommended!
