Balboa Surf Club is an upscale American restaurant in the heart of Uptown, Houston, located in Post Oak Plaza. The menu places an emphasis on fresh seafood from around the country, including a curated sushi program, as well as salads, hearty sandwiches, a standout hamburger, and hand-cut steaks.
Beverage selections include classic house cocktails, and an extensive yet approachable wine list.
The dining room is made up of lush plants, intimate booths as well as a full service bar and lush patio.
Balboa is open 7 days a week for both lunch and dinner.

                                                                                        We had reservations at 7:15 and showed up on time. We were not seated until 8:10. I would not done here again for this fact alone. Honor your reservations and don't overbook your tables.

                                                                                        We had a 7 pm reservation. We arrived before 7. At 7:15 I asked about our table. The VERY RUDE hostess said it will be “at least” another 20 minutes. We were seated an hour after our reservation. Why take a reservation if you cannot honor it!

                                                                                        Delayed being seated because it was so busy however Management was gracious and provided a comp. Top-of-the-line service very lovely Management.  loved the Capajillo after dinner drink recommended by the waiter.

                                                                                        Both the food and service were incredible. Management clearly embraces a serve first mentality when it comes to taking care of their customers and the entire team never misses a beat. They’re a machine! I highly recommend the Coconut Shrimp, Fried Oysters, Salmon and Crab Cake. The Crab Cake might just be the best in town. Balboa is easily in our top five Houston restaurants currently. It’s a must try if you haven’t been.

                                                                                        The coconut shrimp is PHENOMENAL. The salmon poke bowl was good along with the salmon roll. The service wasn't good - waiter got my order wrong and took a very long time to check back on our table each time.

                                                                                        The starters were good. We ordered one of the steak specials the waiter sold us on. Then came back to tell us they were sold out of the special, yet, our sitting was an early sitting of 6pm on a Monday night, so not sure how they were sold out. We switched to another steak entree but wanted the peppercorn sauce offered in the special. Ten minutes later they came back to say they don’t have enough sauce. Really, how hard is it to make a peppercorn sauce. The steak I ended up having was cooked medium not medium rare how I ordered it. Disappointing overall. Won’t be returning.

                                                                                        My partner and I celebrated our anniversary at the V Balboa Surf Club and the experience was nothing short of amazing. Our server Aisha was very well versed on the menus and attentive. I had the redfish which was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. My partner had the grouper (off menu) and really enjoyed it as well. Aisha made sure to send us something special from the kitchen for our anniversary and we loved that! From Aisha, to the food and ambiance, everything tied into our night so well and really made this a memorable anniversary!
