Recommended in the MICHELIN Guide for California 2021-2023. Located in Oakland’s historic Grand Lake District, Bardo is a neighborhood lounge and restaurant inspired by the comfort and camaraderie of a mid-century dinner party. Drawing on the celebration and elegance of old school entertaining, we envisioned a space for friends and neighbors to enjoy amazing food, cocktails, conversation and great music.

Our lounge is a swank living room, furnished with hand-picked finds from antique and vintage markets from Palm Springs to Portland. Our mezzanine dining room features a rotating menu of fresh, seasonal supper-fare with local and sustainably sourced meats, fish and produce. While we think the food, drinks and atmosphere are all great reasons to visit us, it’s the relationships with our friends, neighbors and guests that is the driving force behind Bardo.

Dining with friends? You can't go wrong with our family style Dinner Party Menu. We include an array of house selected apps, mains and desserts from our current seasonal menu. All dishes are meant to be shared among your whole group. Sample a little or a lot of whatever meets your fancy! It's a great way to dine and depending on the night, Chef Amol might stop by your table for a little visit! Food cost is $75/pp and does not include beverages. 20% gratuity and tax will be added to the check.

appetizers were great we had lamb fritters and smoked salmon toast The black cod dinner was outstanding as well. Great cocktails, great ambience we sat at the bar.

Yes! A restaurant where we can hear one another. Rare treat! Food and drink both thoughtfully and competently made. Fave dish was the Petrale over a silky cauliflower puree, with roasted cauliflower, pickled slivers of Fresno pepper, a light hint of Indian spice, topped with versus-soaked raisins, cashews, and coconut. Perfectly cooked fish, symphony of flavors that worked great together. The chicken liver mousse appetizer was good, as were croquettes of braised lamb, but not as star-worthy as that entree (we split 3 dishes + dessert). Apple cake was also luscious, great ending. My husband enjoyed his drinks, and I got a complimentary virgin Negroni (small) as a gift -- it was our anniversary dinner out-- and him, some Champagne. We'll definitely be back. Service was quietly competent, and the vibe was really nice. Full restaurant on a weeknight, but still space and privacy from other conversations.

First time in a long time that a restaurant gave me the medium rare burger I wanted! I was thrilled! The fries stayed hot/warm throughout the meal - another rarity. I 'll be back!

It felt like being in someone’s really well decorated house. Totally recommend the dinner party tasting menu, they kept bringing out one amazing dish after another.

I had a great time dining here I was able to snag a reservation the same day. What I did not pay attention to you was that the reservation was at the bar so they do sit reservations at the bar. We were lucky enough to still be able to be moved to a table, which was great because we ended up doing the tasting menu and I just wanted to be comfortable and have a table to do that. Staff was really accommodating and the food is really delicious. I definitely cannot wait to go back.

Came for the NYE dinner and everything was superb. We sat at the bar and all three staff members were delightful and made great drink recommendations.

My friend and I spent New Years Eve at Bardo's. What a great memory! The food, service, ambiance, and music was amazing. We asked for a sidecar martini. What a drink to remember!!
