Barrows House Restaurant is an American gastropub with a modern twist on traditional New England tavern fare that pairs great food with craft beers. Our menus and beverages showcase Vermont’s abundance of local products and celebrate its farms and producers. These quality ingredients are simply prepared demonstrating classic culinary techniques offering guests uncomplicated seasonal tastes of Vermont. Set against the historic backdrop of a circa 1803 building, the ambiance is at once warm and welcoming, sophisticated yet casual featuring Dorset white marble accents and historic black & white photos from the local Norcross-West Marble Quarry, one of the oldest in the country.                                                                                             The food at Barrows House is consistently amazing. Tonight we had mallard duck (fantastic), scallops with risotto, salmon and the delicious tuna poke nachos to start. Because it was a Monday in stick season, the restaurant volume was quiet. A lovely change. It’s usually bustling and loud which isn’t bad, just different. Thanks to the Barrows House staff for a great evening. Highly recommend.

                                                                                            The food was very good, service was not that good. Server did not even tell us his name, which I thought was strange. It was so loud we couldn’t even hold a conversation with each other. The tables are to close together and the two women next to us were so loud. Probably won’t be back.

                                                                                            Bad timing…The dining room was closed due to a large party so we were seated beside a noisy bar area. Definitely not what we were expecting. Food and service were good but a lot of people standing around the bar five feet from your table along with the loud music…not a great dining experience for $115.00 (tax and tip included).

                                                                                            We ate a large combination of items here. We were seated on time. The waitstaff was very personable. Our meals were of the highest quality, however some flavors must be pre liked to enjoy. For example, I enjoy getting my own wild game, and have eaten duck for a long time, however very few people have had duck…if you don’t have the palate for truffle or wine infused ravioli or sharp cheeses, it’s hard to appreciate the quality. My wife and I highly recommend the corn fritters. It made the meal.

                                                                                            This is one of my favorite restaurants, but it was not up to par last night. As far as service, I think they forgot about us because they barely checked. Our wings were not cooked all the way through, but they were kind enough to take that cost off our bill. I was really looking forward to the duck, but it didn’t taste fresh. It almost tasted as if it had been frozen and reheated. I was disappointed but I am hoping it was an aberration for what has always been favorite restaurant

                                                                                            Relaxed atmosphere, kid friendly, upscale vibes. Food was great! We had the beef tartar and curry muscles for appetizers. Both were delicious! For dinner I have the seared scallops and my husband had the Thia shrimp both were amazing! Everything was great, our waitress was a little scattered so the service was eh but I would definitely recommend for the food!

                                                                                            We were greeted warmly by the receptionist. The food selection was excellent and all of our meals were well prepared. Service was also top notch. Highly recommended.
