   Great food and good service. The atmosphere is a bid institutional. We had a nice booth, but it was in a sort of hallway. People walking by all the time going one place or another. Lights were kind of bright white. Lots of customers in shorts and wife beater shirts.

   Food and service was great. Very loud with larger parties sitting around us. Also live singer was louder than should have been.

   My sister and I had our birthday dinner last night at Bascom's. The food was excellent, except that my prime rib was a little tough due to some fascia that was very difficult to cut with a knife. The meat looked and tasted fine to me. I mentioned it to the waiter (Zack) but didn't bother to ask for a replacement, as the meat was absolutely edible. It was just a little more work than usual. My only real complaint was the noise level after about 7pm, as the room started to fill up. We've noted before that noise can be a problem but this time I left with my ears ringing. I know it's difficult to keep the noise down. Perhaps something can be added to the decor to absorb some of the sound? Unfortunately, due to the noise, I'm not anticipating returning to Bascom's. I'm willing to bet that the noise reached decibel levels that nobody should be subject to chronically. I wonder how many of the wait staff have hearing problems due to the exposure? The wait staff were all hustling as dinner went on but Zack invited us to take our time. We never got the impression that Zack was hurrying us. We very much appreciated that!
