We’re delighted to introduce Bavette. A neighbourhood bistro filled with warm engaging hospitality, with a menu of seasonally led classically driven dishes.

We hope to get that balance of generosity and quality right - that juxtaposition of every day special.

Bavette is a love letter to our favourite places we’ve been to and been lucky enough to be a part of.

Our first visit was as good as we had hoped. We were greeted and seated... the menu isn't extensive, clearly prioritising quality over quantity. On the other hand the wine menu is extensive and, frankly, more expensive than I expected. That said, the wine was delightful and not one you'd expect to find on most wine lists. Our meals were absolutely lovely, backed by 'Goldilocks' service... just right! We shall definitely return... I can now understand why it's so difficult to get a table on a weekend evening!

We are true Francophile-love France, it’s food and wine. La Bavette was therefore recommended to us by good friends who have been before. Our welcome was friendly and we had a nice table. The waitress was pleasant, but we struggled with our wine choice. The 1 wine menu between 4 of us was difficult to read and , quite frankly, the wines were overpriced. A true French restaurant would have a good range of wines from reasonable to expensive. The menu is limited but we all like that. The first courses were all delicious! Three of us chose the steak which was also excellent, but the cassoulet was a massive disappointment. Our friend is a true gentleman so didn’t make a fuss, but it looked extremely unappetizing …dry and overdone. A casserole type dish like this should be an easy choice to produce and present.

Dear Martin, Thank you for taking the time to review your meal here at Bavette. It’s great to hear you all enjoyed your starters and three of you the main courses. I’m sorry to hear your friend didn’t enjoy the cassoulet, we do take care to make sure they are all the right level of moisture but apologise if on this occasion it was too dry. It’s disappointing to hear you feel the wines are too expensive, we feel there is a good range of prices but will look into this to make sure there I a good choice for all price points. We would be happy to offer more wine lists for the table if requested. I hope you feel enough of your experience was good enough ti give us another go and hopefully have a more fulfilled experience. We celebrated our anniversary at Bavette, and the atmosphere was both charming and welcoming . The staff was exceptionally warm and friendly, making us feel right at home. The food was nothing short of outstanding, and the desserts were simply fantastic. For starters, we enjoyed Cheese Croquettes, which were perfectly crispy on the outside with a creamy, velvety filling, and a flavorful and smooth Pâté. For mains, the Bavette steak was cooked to perfection, complemented by a rich sauce on the side. The Cassoulet, featuring duck, pork belly, and sausage, was incredibly tender and succulent. The Crème Brûlée, Paris-Brest, and chocolate cake were the perfect ending to our meal—each dessert was a delightful treat, beautifully crafted and bursting with flavour. Would highly recommend! Lunch that was only meant to be one course but turned into 4 (!). Exceptional quality and simple authentic French cooking. Try the steak tartare and cassoulet. But it's the personal service and welcome that makes this place stand out. We're lucky to have Bavette.

Very enjoyable albeit expensive evening. Expect over £100 for two without desserts. Food was excellent as was the service. Sat near the door so whilst under a heater, exposed to cold air every time the door opened. As said, food excellent but you pay a price so will come back again but for very special occasions.
