They were told of my food allergy and they didn't do any accommodations when they first brought over the food. I asked about the food, the waitress first said that there wasn't any tree nuts in the food and then said that there were only tree nuts in the carrot cake. I then asked for a plate for me without any tree nuts so there wasn't any contamination. They finally brought me some desserts but at that point I didn't trust they made it tree nut safe. The food was okay, but I didn't find it worth $70/ person.

Simply adorable. Wonderful service and experience. We ate in the courtyard which was heated and they provided blankets which I was wondering about. It is open air so I'm not sure what they do if it's raining and you've booked outside but it was just the sweetest place and a wonderful experience. We had the chicken tortilla soup, popovers, turkey club sandwich and potato wedges. The ginger Arnold palmer was perfection and my daughter enjoyed that her hot chocolate wasn't too hot and she could drink it right away. Can't wait to come back!

Wonderful restaurant in a delightful building on Charles St. The food is delicious and the staff is great.

There were no reservations available indoors but we felt warm and comfortable with heater and blanket. It turned out lovely to be in garden patio. The experience of visiting the book store followed by lunch at the cafe in that charming Beacon Hill site, made for a uniquely Boston experience.

Food is very good. Portions are very small and price point is high. A small slice of quiche is $22. Very costly for a small piece, yet delicious.

We went for afternoon tea which was nice but we waited half an hour for our table despite having a reservation. The host wasn’t very apologetic about it. I feel like they should have at least comped a drink or something especially given how expensive it is. The food itself was good and one of the better afternoon teas I’ve been to in Boston but not sure I’d go back given our experience.

I’ve been to the restaurant for lunch before but booked this for a birthday celebration noted on my reservation. Arrived and asked if we could sit away from the door and was told the table we wanted, that was empty and one table over, was reserved for a birthday celebration. After having them look at our reservation and lots of looks from person to person they moved us to the table we requested. Best we could tell, our waiter was serving everyone there. He was a great guy but overloaded. The food was meh. The pea soup had way too much mint in it. The strip steak was tough and we should have been given steak knives rather than butter knives to eat. Dessert was fine but no one bothered to ask if we wanted coffee. If I return it won’t be for dinner.

Absolutely love Beacon Hill Books and Cafe!! Delicious breakfast and excellent service. The gentleman who was our server was outstanding!!we spent a little time talking with him after our breakfast and learned all the food is sourced locally the bread and pasties are all made there! Just wonderful and can’t wait to return again! Thank you!
