Right in the middle of this historic city, close to the market, Bill's Norwich restaurant is a lovely space across two large floors. Newly refurbished, expect cosy booths, luxurious chesterfield sofas, vibrant colour and plenty of quirky touches by Bill himself. For groups there's also a private dining area. We’ve previously had wonderful experiences at Bills, with great customer service and a fantastic gluten-free menu. But this New Year’s Eve, we were left utterly disappointed. The staff seemed miserable and were bordering rude. Not one smile from any of them! Within two minutes of sitting down, they wanted our food order, before we had an opportunity to ask for drinks or look at the menu. When the food arrived, it was a letdown. The sauces were missing, and the children’s chips had gone cold despite repeated requests for the sauces. The chicken in the Caesar salad was so tough it was like jerky, and my child couldn’t eat it, so only ate the lettuce with a side of chips. We didn’t complain at the time, we just ate what we were given as we were all hungry. When we finished our meals and asked for pudding and drinks, we were repeatedly ignored. We even cleared our own plates on the table, but that didn’t help. Finally, we were given the pudding menus, which were dumped on the table without a word or acknowledgment from the staff. The waiter never returned. We don’t understand what we did to receive such an attitude. We spent two hours at Bills for just ONE course and ONE drink. Our four children were disappointed not to get their pudding, but we left as we didn’t want to wait any longer or spend more money for such poor service. It was very evident they did not want us there. The restaurant wasn’t busy at the time, so we’re puzzled why the service and food was so poor. I told the waiter when paying the bill that the service had been terrible and therefore did not pay the optional service charge. No acknowledgement or apology was given, he wouldn’t even look at me. This experience has definitely put us off returning.

Fantastic great from the moment we arrived Brilliant service, food was delicious would recommend Our server was Lisa she was excellent, knowledgeable about the dishes and professional. Will greeted us and he was welcoming and a pleasure to meet We had a really enjoyable meal and left very happy. Thank you

My daughters and I had a super festive set meal. Thought had obviously been taken with each course. The staff were suitably attentive. All in the heart of beautiful Norwich.

Lovely meal, booking online was a bit of a pain though, sooner call to book table but very nice staff and please to relax

Excellent service despite it being busy.Fab food.Very busy with lots of Christmas parties but still quick service.

Very, very noisy. Difficult to hold any form of conversation but food v good. Waiter needs better training so as not to knock over wine glass full of red wine over customers. Staff dealt with the fallout well though.

Lovely evening the staff were Very friendly and attentive, the food was delicious with the boxing day curry being a firm favourite at the table , my only grumble is the price of soft drinks £3:50 for a can of coke is extremely expensive literally a can brought to the table but other than that a great evening had by all .
