There are ninety-nine different ways to write “sushi” in the Japanese script of kanji. Each with its own unique interpretation and meaning. It was with great deliberation that our founder, Billy, chose 寿司 to best represent his personal interpretation of the word - Celebration of Fish!

That’s exactly how Billy feels about the art of making sushi and the atmosphere that surrounds it - it should be a celebration! Which is why Billy Sushi is more than just a restaurant, it is an experience for anyone who allows themselves to take part.

A three-ring performance of sorts - sushi bar, sake bar and dining room - brought to life by the performances of sushi chefs, bartenders and servers. And the Ring Master and your host, Billy.

Chef and owner Enkhbileg “Billy” Tserenbat has been cooking in the Twin Cities for more than 20 years and often checks in on tables himself, so don't feel shy asking him for menu recs. What a fantastic evening! The food was delicious. Our server was outstanding (I am so mad at myself for not having her name handy for this review). It was a bit loud, so we definitely had to shout to each other at the beginning of evening (7:00pm on a Sunday) but it did quiet down after a while. We were celebrating a birthday and it was a hit! Thank you, we will be back!!!!

Food always great but felt super rushed and didn’t get to celebrate my moms bday at all at the end of the sushi dinner

The food here is always excellent. The atmosphere is a cool vibe and the wait staff are absolutely top notch. I go to Billy Sushi at least a few times per year, so not exactly a regular, yet there is always a staff members who remembers me and says hello. That’s pretty impressive! Highly recommend this place! If you get the chance to meet Billy, he’s a gem - you won’t be disappointed!

We waited a long time to try Billy sushi. We are frequent travelers and though Minneapolis doesn’t have the worst options for a landlocked state, we typically find better quality elsewhere. Everything at Billy Sushi from the ambiance to the quality of fish and the care of preparation was outstanding. Everybody on staff was so knowledgeable and friendly. We will be back to Billy again and again!

The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. Our waiter Aaron was very entertaining and he took really good care of us! Love a server who keeps the table maintained throughout the dining experience. His OCD was on the same level as mine lol.

Food was incredible, drinks were good but on the small and expensive side, still very good. Will definitely go back.
