Named after La Jolla’s popular Open Aire Farmer’s Market, Bistro du Marché allows chef Diot to work closely with farmers to incorporate the finest local flavors into his dishes. Led by Cheffe Amélie Gadoum, Bistro du Marché incorporates quality ingredients and rigorous French technique. Signature dish includes Wild Mushroom Ravioli in Port wine Sauce. One of the specialties: Un Coq au Vin "Ivre de Bourgogne" Organic Chicken Braised in Red Wine Sauce, Yukon Gold Mashed Potato, Carrot, Mushrooms.

Bistro du Marché is based on the culinary concept of “bistronomie”, that emerged in Paris. Bistronomie, is a play on words on the concepts of “bistro” and “gastronomie”. It is a form of French cuisine that emphasizes the blending of haute gastronomic expertise, seasonality, and the traditional “cuisine de terroir” found in bistros across France. The youthfulness of the bistronomie movement has succeeded in reinvigorating French classic cuisine, and raised the bar of traditional French bistros.

The restaurant has warm and indulgent staff who serve up special dishes. You always make me look good as the person who brought them in!

                                                                                                            Came here for a cute date night with my girlfriend. We had the braised wagyu, caviar, and the lamb chops. Everything was delicious - even the free bread. Drinks were well made (delicious old fashioned), and the Carajillo to top it all off. Highest recommendation! We will certainly be back.

                                                                                                            The single best French dining experience in San Diego Well appointed with very comfortable booths and chairs to help you enjoy the feast to come. The wild mushroom raviolis in a delicate and incredibly flavorful port sauce is A Must the paper thin ravioli is exquisite as are the mushrooms. Can’t go wrong on the entrees either, the branzino in a citrus beurre blanc was the best seafood I’ve had. The waygu beef Bourgogne was melt in your mouth as was the Coq au vin. Don’t miss the tarte tatine very creative and delicious. This is worth traveling from LA for so lucky to have this in our city!!!

                                                                                                            Everything was great! A couple interpretations of some items didn’t work for me. For example, they used Tzatziki sauce instead of creme friache with their caviar service. Otherwise, wonderful experience and food.

                                                                                                            We had great food as usual at Bistro du Marche, capped-off by a delightful Chef’s dessert special of pears and apples. Their usual elite service missed a beat, as we had to pour our own wine once on a very slow night. However, what was unacceptable was a man dining dressed in a dark tank top, suitable for the beach or a dive bar. The restaurant needs to insist on dress commensurate with the setting.
