Bodega SF is an evolution of Matthew Ho’s family's restaurant, Bodega Bistro, which operated from 2003-2017 out of San Francisco’s Tenderloin District, serving traditional Northern Vietnamese cuisine. The brand’s success continued as Ho organized pop-up events, eventually transitioning to meal packages throughout the pandemic to meet demand. In 2022, Ho and his partners opened Bodega SF’s brick-and-mortar location, again located in the Tenderloin District, bringing high-quality Vietnamese cuisine back to the community with a modernized, casual fine dining experience. The family-style concept allows visitors to sample its variety of authentic, creative dishes.

You know that place that is so good, so consistently, that you hesitate to give it a rave review because it might make it harder to get a table in the future? Well, Bodega is just that kind of restaurant. Authentic cuisine, frequently updated menu and specials, and fantastic service (and wine list). Very many thumbs up!

I had the shaking beef. It is a medium sized hamburger with a bun. It was spiced just right. Not too hot and not too subtle. I loved. Will go back real soon. I can not get the taste out of my mind.

The food was delicious! Everyone in our party agreed about the food. But, and these are big buts (um, so to speak), the noise-level was near unbearable. Several people in our party mentioned that their ears were ringing after dinner much as if we'd been to a rock concert. One suggested he might return for the food, but would bring ear plugs. The noise level was WAY TOO LOUD. Also, at times our waiter seemed really distracted (maybe it was the noise level), we had to ask him for clarifications more than once on both food and drink orders. All in all, the service was reasonable, but there's room for improvement.

Bodega made my birthday truly memorable! We had a group of 10 so did the $90 pre-fixe and were all *very*satisfied. We received so many courses and they were all absolutely. The cocktails were spectacular - unique spins on the classics. Service was friendly and accommodating.

The food is amazing. Bun cha was on point and so were the spring rolls. Pho Bo was better Pho Hanoi.

It was delicious! So many flavors to enjoy and the service was fantastic from Vicky at the front, Kyle behind the bar and Emmy who was our server. The team was very informed about the food/what to recommend. I’m looking forward to my return 😊

Hostess worked with me hours ahead of my reservation to accommodate a large party. I’ve never had a restaurant put in that much effort into making sure I had a good experience.

Friend's Birthday dinner. She absolurely loved everything and she's a very critical person. We'd borh go back again and bring other people.
