The history of food in Bombay or Mumbai is closely linked to the growth of this city from fishing village to megapolis. As wave after wave of immigrants from all over the country came with dreams of gold in their eyes, they brought their culinary treasures with them and no exception were the Chinese Immigrants who came from The Chinatown in Kolkata. Also known as ‘Hakka People’ they came to India from the Chinese province of Canton, and created a cuisine combining traditional Chinese cooking techniques with the intriguing spices of India, and today few eating places big or small dare exist unless it also serves “indo Chinese food” At Bombay Chow we Want to offer you an authentic selection of dishes and specialities of the Indo Chinese cuisine that we all love , and cater dishes that have attained a Cult status like ‘The Manchow soup’ ‘Chicken Lollipop’ ‘Manchurian’ ‘Hakka Noodles’ and many more.     Really nice food, but would not recommend the chilli chicken. The Kung Pao chicken was really nice.

    Bombay Chow has been a family favourite since it opened. Interesting take on Indian-influenced Chinese, popularised in Mumbai. Over seasoned probably. Tasty definitely. Service has always been hit and miss but still a worthwhile experience that drew well to do Indian families from all over London. But something changed in lockdown. It started offering take away with an understandably limited menu and ludicrous prices, like £6 for rice. Yes times are hard and people need to make a living but this felt like profiteering. The menu started to grow but was filling with curry house staples you can get anywhere rather than the unique items that were a key ingredient of a special place that made us put up with the shambolic service. Last night was a first chance to go in since lockdown and was a celebration of our son's first job. The welcome was the familiar: shock that someone who booked turning up! But we were sat in a few minutes. The menu is quite full now but filled with Indian food. Despite the familiar chaos, non of staff looked familiar which, alongside the change in menu, perhaps suggest a change in ownership, or perhaps just the chef - understandable given the circumstances. Took too long and too much effort to have our order taken but the guys arrived quickly. And while overpriced it is tasty. While we miss some of our favourite dishes, the standout was a new Indian entry, the Aloo Chat, which tasted as good as as it looked - very beautiful. Will we be back? Probably. But not as frequent as we used to. If we're spending that much at what is becoming just another curry house, for which there is so much competition nearby, then we'll probably opt for Indian Zing, where you feel like you're getting what you pay for.

    Generally the food is very nice and it's one of our favorite places for Indo-chinese food. But this time the place was too noisy and the manchurian was somehow too sweet and saucy. Manchurian has in the past been perfectly crisp and very well made. Don't know what changed this time.
