The Plough isn't your average countryside pub. Sitting on a quiet lane in a quintessentially English village, The Plough was set to be sold off the developers when 120 members of the community came together to invest, and save, their local. After its purchase and renovation, the Yates family took over the kitchen and opened the pub's small, but proud, restaurant, Bowleys.

Head Chef Alex Yates is still very early on in his career but though only in his early twenties, he has already spent two years in the kitchens at The Goring Hotel in London, as well as having gained experience with Rick Stein and even once cooking for the Queen.

Bowleys menus have a traditional feel and adhere to classic, English fare with a fine dining twist. There are several options to choose between including a tasting menu, set lunch, a la carte, brunch and Sunday lunch. The tasting menu is the jewel in Bowleys crown and consists of five courses, with an optional sixth.

This is a really fabulous place - the food is delicious, the staff couldn't be friendlier, and the atmosphere is lovely. What a treat!

We chose the set lunch menu. Great value for money. The ambience was perfect and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable but not overbearing. It's a great fine dining experience. For me presentation says it all and the food here is very attractively presented with lots of local produce included.

It was a lovely meal, great service, staff couldn’t do enough to ensure you experience was first class. Nice little touches with the little taster bites at the beginning to the little sweets at the end that were complementary. The food was AMAZING and lovely that they explain and remind you what’s on the plate when it’s put down in front if you. From start to finish we had a wonderful time at the Plough, will be back again soon.

Quality of food was excellent and service was first class. We were exceptionally well look after. The restaurant and pub are in a small village but it is well worth the journey and is highly recommended.

Excellent personal unfussy service…beautifully presented tasty food. We had the lunchtime set meal. We.have been here 6 times and it’s just as good every time the set lunch menu is very good value. Parking is limited - best come in a small car.

Beautifully presented & carefully prepared dishes. Service impeccable. Would have given 5 stars however our greens were under cooked & hard. Will definitely return as overall was lovely.

We had the 8 course Kentish tasting menu and had the additional cheese course. We decided not to pair wines because of the need to drive. Excellent food!! Every dish was a winner. We have had the privilege of eating many tasting menus and this was up there with the best. No dish disappointed. Service was understated and friendly, all the servers knew their stuff when it came to the food. Small restaurant with only minor background noise so easy to talk but still nice ambience.
