Delicious high quality French food made with local ingredients. Beautiful house with high ceilings and modern chandeliers. Great for a date night.

Service was very nice, however the food was okay at best. The cortados were milky, and the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with breakfast potatoes was akin to Cora’s. Would not recommend the mushroom toast unless you are a super fan of balsamic reduction - the plate is drenched in it. Overall, we expected the food to match the service and ambience - would not recommend if you value taste over aesthetic.

The Happening Gourmand menu was extremely good value and our choicse were very tasty. Good flavours and well cooked. Service was excellent.

We had high hopes for a quick quiet lunch after a visit to Notre Dame. Service was slow. Food was by far the worst food we had on our weeklong trip to Quebec and Montreal. Frankly, it felt like the chef was trying to hard and needs to pull back on the flavors. For example the cheeseburger was soggy and we had them leave the salsa off!

This was a fantastic experience. We ordered the 2 course special for lunch. Tried the escargot, French onion soup, steak and mussels. The serving size was generous and the food was AMAZING. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the downtown Montreal area.

J’ai pris une chance d’aller dans ce resto, car je l’ai toujours considéré comme une trappe touristique. J’y suis allé pour le 60e anniversaire de ma tante, qui venait au Canada pour la première fois. À la fin de la soirée, j’étais vraiment déçue. Tout avait bien commencé : notre serveur nous a présenté le menu avec patience, mais au fil de la soirée, il a disparu peu à peu. Notre nourriture était froide, particulièrement le canard et l’agneau. Trois heures avant ma réservation, j’ai appelé pour confirmer et demander s’ils faisaient qqchose pour les anniversaires, puisqu’il s’agissait de celui de ma tante. On m’a assuré qu’ils apporteraient un gâteau avec une bougie, mais cela n’a jamais été fait. Ce fut une expérience décevante.

Nous regrettons que le service n'ait pas été à la hauteur tout au long de la soirée, et nous ferons un suivi auprès de notre équipe pour comprendre ce qui s'est passé. Nous sommes également désolés que la promesse du gâteau d'anniversaire n'ait pas été honorée. Nous veillerons à ce que cela ne se reproduise plus. We stopped here on our visit to Montréal. It was a tough decision where to eat dinner. But I'm very happy that we chose Brasserie 701. We did an early dinner as we missed lunch earlier on the day. As a result, the restaurant was very quiet. But the food was delicious! We did the 3 course meal. I had the carrot soup & my partner had the beef tartar. Both were new dishes for us & wonderful. The next course was mushroom tortellini for him & salmon for me. The tortellini was very creamy. The salmon had a divine crispy top layer & was cooked perfectly. The final course was creme caramel & creme brulée. Both were divine. You will not regret going to this wonderful restaurant.

Le brunch du Happening est un attrape touristes, pas du tout à la hauteur qui revient plus cher qu’un brunch à la carte. Jus de fruit en boite de carton. Assiette sans fruits.
