The Brigantine is more than just home to some of San Diego’s finest seafood. It’s a place where locals and visitors alike come to share a lively atmosphere and authentic sense of community. The Morton family opened the first Brigantine on Shelter Island in 1969, with a vision that embraced the beach town lifestyle, a dedication to flavorful food, and a passion for friendly service.

Today, we’re known far and wide for our San Diego-style surf and turf. From our award-winning fish tacos and freshly shucked oysters, to classic filet mignon or our perpetually best-selling marinated grilled swordfish. Staff was completely overwhelmed, it took forever to get our drinks, the waiter told us they had booked 509 guests that night and they weren’t prepared. Waiter told us it was hard for him to find plates because there wasn’t enough and it was the same with water glasses. One of my glasses had pink lipstick on it. I had reserved a table and mentioned on my reservation that we were celebrating a recent marriage. I asked if there was something they could do to make it special for the new couple. We ordered a dessert for our table and I pulled the waiter aside to ask if they could write “Congratulations” on it and he made it happen, so that was nice. We got drinks, appetizers, entrees, and dessert. For the quality, I feel that the price was very high. I know there were busy last night, but the service was lackluster. I felt bad for the new couple at our table because I don’t feel like they got the special night they were hoping for. Disappointing and expensive with very long wait times and communication breakdowns between staff/general dining flow. I will not be coming back.

Popped in for breakfast with friends. We all really enjoyed our breakfasts while looking out over the beautiful SD bay with Coronado military base in the distance. Wonderful!
