Set in Kansas City’s historic City Market, Brown and Loe Restaurant’s inviting atmosphere is a blend of “big city” bistro with the welcoming casual flavor of a neighborhood favorite. Housed in a former Merchant’s Bank constructed in 1920, the restaurant honors the architectural details of the two-story building which features a façade of plate glass and verde marble floors and walls.
In the 1940’s, Brown and Loe was originally a produce broker with offices on the second floor of the Merchant’s Bank building. The new Brown and Loe Restaurant celebrates the techniques of curing, pickling and smoking meats, beautifully interpreted into marvelous American comfort cuisine. This is a true local venue, evidenced by the restaurant’s allegiance to the resident farmers and food artisans who supply most of the restaurant’s fresh ingredients.
Brown and Loe Restaurant is the second dining concept introduced by Harry Murphy, owner of the City Market’s popular Harry’s Country Club.

    We sat on the patio, and it would have been perfect if they had the sun shades up. It’s a little early for that though. Our food and drinks were delicious…I especially loved the pimento dip. We didn’t get our usual meatloaf this time, but the Cuban sandwich was wonderful. Our server, Kris, was very attentive. He made the visit extraordinary. He was right there when we needed anything without being intrusive.

    Our food was fantastic as always! We were there for Sunday brunch. Our server was also great! Very attentive, helpful with questions and made great suggestions. Was also great with our kiddos.

    The atmosphere here is always warm and welcoming. The food is delicious with nice presentation. Service is always very good. One of my very favorite restaurants in the K.C. metro.

    We were seated immediately at our reservation time, the staff were delightful. It was a special occasion and they did not forget! It was a lovely evening!

    We dined there at noon on a Thursday afternoon. Our food came out quickly and was very tasty, Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The ambience was delightful, very old school. Parking was a nonissue at this time of day.
