Beneath the pulsing city lies a hidden dining destination. USDA Prime steaks from the finest Black Angus cattle. Bespoke cocktails. A restored Bank Vault from the 1930s. This is Butcher & Banker, a new "steakeasy" at the crossroads of Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, Javits Center and Hudson Yards.

Butcher & Banker is no ordinary steakhouse. A dozen different steaks are on offer, but non-steak eaters will dine exceedingly well here.

Butcher & Banker pays homage to the New Yorker Hotel’s storied history. The New Yorker opened in 1930 at the height of the Great Depression as the then largest hotel in the city. It has attracted a who’s who of entertainers and dignitaries from around the world, including Muhammad Ali, JFK, Joan Crawford and Nikola Tesla.

Beneath the hotel, a bank vault and offices were occupied by the Manufacturers Trust Company until 1980. With the opening of Butcher & Banker, the public can see the vault for the first time in 37 years.

Carne fantastica, ambiente rilassante ma la presenza del cameriere che continuamente riempie il bicchiere dell’acqua rovina l’atmosfera. Prezzi alti ma in linea con la city

Posto molto bello, location raffinata. Torre di salmone meravigliosa, tomowak invece un po’ magra. Prezzo alto ma non altissimo per la qualità nel complesso.

Great birthday experience and great service! My party enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back for the food and great service. Thank you again to everyone from the manager to our server!

Decor was very cool (inside of an old bank vault). Staff was very friendly, helpful, and informative. Food was excellent. Bourbon menu list was very good. Noise level was low, had plenty of time to enjoy the mean without feeling rushed but the server was always there when needed.

Wanted to try a new steakhouse in NYC. While the food was well prepared, served on hot plates, tasted wonderful, the service is without any connection. From the bartender who poured drinks only to get back to his phone, the waiter moved so quickly and offered little or no interaction with us. We didn’t want to chit chat but the personalization of food service, even brief, can make us want to return. We will keep trying out all that the city offers upon our next visit. So many options!
