   Have been several times without a problem. This visit for 3 was a DISASTER. Arrived at 5.25pm and left at 8.20pm. During this time had one starter (French Onion Soup) and three mains. The soup was not like that on previous occasions. The onion was insufficient, meat (assumably beef) was misplaced and cheese, uncooked, was sprinkled on the top. Hardly an imitation of FOS. Two mains were just about passable, the third (Caesar salad with chicken) was not. The lettuce and dressing were wrong, the chicken overcooked and hard and croutons like bullets; they would have killed at 50 yds. The problem was an obvious lack of staff and a kitchen that was not up to it. Foolishly we had ordered two deserts, but when after 20 min they hadn't appeared and we were then asked whether we'd like a desert, we took the chance to escape from almost 3 hrs of mainly waiting and not eating. The lady in charge, harassed beyond words, could see we were not pleased and to her credit she gave us some credit.The cafe was bursting at the seems with people when we left. I hope God helped them.

   We booked a table last Saturday for eight people direct on the Cafe Rouge website, as I had read of problems booking through other websites. No problem, easy booking procedure. The food and service were up to the usual standard - good. I like the way all of the dishes are served to all diners at one time - no waiting for the last one to come out. The staff were excellent, with no rush. We were able to take our time and have a relaxed, enjoyable evening. Going back again tomorrow

   Lovely decor and wonderful food! The waiters were extremely polite and friendly. Would definitely go back!

   Surprisingly quite for a Saturday evening but that certainly wasn't once we arrived. Good food and wine for a bulk standard chain restaurant. Have always enjoyed Cafe Rouge and not disappointed this time. If you have never been and or a little unsure, please give it a go. Life is short please live it.

   The staff were friendly and efficient. The food was served quickly. We were not rushed at any stage and the whole experience was of relaxed dining geared to our pace and not theirs.

   The waitress wasn't very friendly and when I asked if the house wine was a dry wine, she told me (in a very curt manner) that it was just house wine. When I asked what the house wine was, she replied (again with a condescending tone of voice) , that it was just house wine. She then got somewhat frustrated and merely placed the wine menu in my hands. The wine menu clearly stated that the house wine was a dry, fruity Compte wine. My elderly mother had pea and mint soup (but she could not taste the mint) and a dry piece of stoneground bread, with no butter. The lunch was meant to be a treat for her and was quite disappointing. The other two meals were fine but not very exciting. I haven't visited Cafe Rouge for many, many years and was looking forward to it, but I don't think I'll be coming again.

   Food was considerable poorer than last time I went. The waitress said they have changed the menu so not sure if that means cuts! Service and venue are fine - just the food that is poor.

    Food and ambience very good. The waitress who served us when we arrived was excellent. However, when she went off shift the waiter who took over definitely lacked the customer service skills she possessed.
