   Fabulous and friendly staff. Nice atmosphere. Demi Poulet a bit dry but all other meals were good.

   Staff were not very welcoming. Food wasn’t served until an hour after our booking time (we were a party of 12 and the only people in the restaurant for the first 45 mins, and only ordering breakfast) Three of the party ordered poached eggs and all of them we over cooked and completely hard. I assume this was because they tried to send all the food out together, but we would have appreciated the food better cooked and not served at the same time. Also the servings of sauce with some of the meals was very meagre. We didn’t bother sending the food back as we had waited so long and the occasion was a three year olds birthday and they were getting very restless. Not the usual standard of service or food we usual get from this chain, although it was our first time at this branch. We are here because frankie and bennys couldn’t take a booking at the same time. Next time we will return to frankie and bennys.

   The quality of the food was very good. The service however was quite slow. The experience was very good value for miney. It is at a very central location in Maidstone.

   Cafe Rouge on our visit was quiet so the ambience, busy environment buzz was lost, that said everything else worked. I will go again

   Always enjoy it here although it's very expensive now and dining for two with a couple of a drinks exceeds £50-£60. Set menu good value. 10 olives for £3.50 is a rip off by the way.

   The staff were very helpful. The food arrived promptly and was well-presented. We had a starter and main course and that was more than adequate. We did not feel like a dessert after that! Would definitely recommend to others.

    CR My party of four decided to dine at Cafe Rouge in Maidstone to celebrate a family birthday. The Bread & Nibbles that we ordered were very tasty and went down well. For main course, three of us ordered fillet steak with fries and the fourth ordered breaded hake fillet with fries. When the four meals arrived, all the fries were cold. We told the manager who said she didn't want to take the meals back and that she would order some extra fries. These eventually arrived after about ten minutes, which left the diner with the fish eating fish on its own before it too got cold and likewise for the people with the steak. One of the steaks was requested to be cooked medium, but when it arrived it was well done and all three steaks looked dry. It was almost as if the plates had been left on the side in the kitchen after dishing up and had been forgotten. We all ordered a sweet, two of which were good. However the others, which were 2 x 2 scoops of ice cream for a costly total of £9 were literally dropped into a glass without even a tuile or other embellishment in sight. We felt that the food was not very well presented. It could have been understandable if the restaurant was busy, but it was a long way from it. The staff were very friendly and obliging and the manager gave us a discount of £40, but the chef (I use the term loosely) needs speaking to or replacing. It was still a very disappointing experience on what should have been an enjoyable family outing in a restaurant whose prices are near top of the range for food that is mediocre.
