                                                                      We went there for lunch but were told that the lunch menu, which was posted online, wasn't available and that we had to order from the dinner menu. Not wanting to order a dinner entrée we ordered a couple of appetizers which weren't what we really wanted. We previously have had dinner at Callao which we enjoyed and looked forward to lunch, only to be very disappointed.

                                                                      Callao is a relatively recent addition to the food scene in Los Altos, CA. This Peruvian restaurant is a true gem, offering traditional and comforting specialties from Peru. The traditional ceviche was perfect, the meat empanadas were delicious, and the Seco de Cordero was a fantastic discovery. We topped it off with Picarones, which were fluffy and scrumptious. I highly recommend this restaurants.

                                                                      first time here. came in for an early dinner with friends. it was fairly empty and the music was a bit loud probably for staff rather than guests enjoyment. the extensive menu took some time to decipher but with help from the server we settled on a mixed ceviche and calamari causa for starters. mixed ceviche was mostly tasty but was missing the promised scallops and contained some un identifiable very unedible fish chunks. the causa was nice and squid was a good substitute for unavailable octopus. we all ordered an entree so we could sample the menu. pork belly stew was the favorite followed by lamb stew third was the beef where veg and potatoes shined but beef was tough and overcooked. seafood marisco with rice was pretty lackluster . In all we are a picky group. the flavors were there if you pick the right dishes. service was adequate , for a tuesday staff was limited . we will give it another try!

                                                                      We had a lovely evening. Food was excellent -highly recommend the shrimp stuffed sushi appetizer. Pisco sour cocktail was perfect. Pacing of courses was just right. We will be back!
