Candela Cucina is an upscale Italian restaurant from Servedwell Hospitality in the historic Candleworks building. Candela Cucina is not just another Italian American restaurant, Candela is an authentic Italian restaurant. Candela’s menu ranges from classic Italian dishes to innovative contemporary creations, all crafted with the finest ingredients.

This new concept from Servedwell Hospitality is in partnership with Peter Biondi. Pete has opened other Servedwell concepts and has worked at several NYC Michelin-starred restaurants. The menu is crafted and overseen by Chef Josh Riazi. Josh has been overseeing all Servedwell’s culinary development and operations since 2018. Josh has worked in several highly acclaimed restaurants; most notably, Josh was Executive Chef at Al Forno in Providence, RI. Josh is assisted by Chef Joe Melo, a Servedwell alum, who will oversee daily culinary operations at Candela.

    We arrived at our reservation time we’re seated within 5 minutes. The new decor was well done although the seating seemed crowded with tables very close. We were seated in the patio area which was bit cold but our excellent waiter Ray quickly upped the heat. We chose the bolognese and duck confit for dinner. The bolognese arrived barely warm but again Ray took care of it. My 2 duck legs were good although a bit too well done. In total we were not iverky impressed.

    Food was excellent 10 out of 10 , we sat at the bar and our bartender/ server G went above and beyond already made reservations for Feb 8 🥰

    was my second visit. The first visit was outstanding! I expected the same for the second visit This was terribly disappointed. We were seated at the very back of the porch directly across a very busy server's station. Due to the constant back-and-forth of servers, the noise from the station, and times when several servers were congregated close to us, we were never able to relax. There should be no tables in such close proximity to a work area. Second, the meal

    The dishes were prepared to perfection. Excellent atmosphere, food and service. Perfect for upscale Italian dining without having to leave New Bedford.

    Old world , Italian ambience. Delicious food. A wonderful group of people taking care of us. We never felt rushed. The duck was a bit chewy but still very tasty. The lasagna was yummy, the pasta was perfect. The fettuccine Nero was absolutely divine. My husband wished for white, linen tablecloths, however , everything was quite elegant. The desserts were fabulous/ homemade pistachio ice cream that melted in our mouths! And a light and fluffy, authentic , delicious tiramisu . We made reservations to return in a few weeks. Be sure and check out Steve Silversrein’s latest restaurant.

    If you want a fine dining experience, then go to Candela Cucina in downtown New Bedford. This was my second time at C.C. and I once again experienced an awesome evening. Let's start with the service, fantastic. My friends and I had a delightful waiter who took care of our every wish! He made the evening fun! This time, we sat out in the patio room, a great spot with lots of ambiance. The paintings just seem to fit the decor so naturally. Heard it was Suzanne from the Art Museum who chose the paintings, a way to have a professional atmosphere representing the artistic flavor of New Bedford! Now onto the food! In a word, yummy! My friends enjoyed the large meatball and cheese as suggested by the waiter, loving every bite! Their main course was mouthwatering. I chose the NY strip and was not disappointed. It was cooked just as I like it, nice and rare! It was accompanied by fingerling potatoes and a vegetable. We shared a birthday dessert of the homemade donuts melted in our mouths. Go there, you will love it! Good drinks too!
