Candela Cucina is an upscale Italian restaurant from Servedwell Hospitality in the historic Candleworks building. Candela Cucina is not just another Italian American restaurant, Candela is an authentic Italian restaurant. Candela’s menu ranges from classic Italian dishes to innovative contemporary creations, all crafted with the finest ingredients.

This new concept from Servedwell Hospitality is in partnership with Peter Biondi. Pete has opened other Servedwell concepts and has worked at several NYC Michelin-starred restaurants. The menu is crafted and overseen by Chef Josh Riazi. Josh has been overseeing all Servedwell’s culinary development and operations since 2018. Josh has worked in several highly acclaimed restaurants; most notably, Josh was Executive Chef at Al Forno in Providence, RI. Josh is assisted by Chef Joe Melo, a Servedwell alum, who will oversee daily culinary operations at Candela.

    Food was excellent 10 out of 10 , we sat at the bar and our bartender/ server G went above and beyond already made reservations for Feb 8 🥰

    Everything was great, from drinks to appetizers to dinner and desserts. I highly recommend.

    Old world , Italian ambience. Delicious food. A wonderful group of people taking care of us. We never felt rushed. The duck was a bit chewy but still very tasty. The lasagna was yummy, the pasta was perfect. The fettuccine Nero was absolutely divine. My husband wished for white, linen tablecloths, however , everything was quite elegant. The desserts were fabulous/ homemade pistachio ice cream that melted in our mouths! And a light and fluffy, authentic , delicious tiramisu . We made reservations to return in a few weeks. Be sure and check out Steve Silversrein’s latest restaurant.

    If you want a fine dining experience, then go to Candela Cucina in downtown New Bedford. This was my second time at C.C. and I once again experienced an awesome evening. Let's start with the service, fantastic. My friends and I had a delightful waiter who took care of our every wish! He made the evening fun! This time, we sat out in the patio room, a great spot with lots of ambiance. The paintings just seem to fit the decor so naturally. Heard it was Suzanne from the Art Museum who chose the paintings, a way to have a professional atmosphere representing the artistic flavor of New Bedford! Now onto the food! In a word, yummy! My friends enjoyed the large meatball and cheese as suggested by the waiter, loving every bite! Their main course was mouthwatering. I chose the NY strip and was not disappointed. It was cooked just as I like it, nice and rare! It was accompanied by fingerling potatoes and a vegetable. We shared a birthday dessert of the homemade donuts melted in our mouths. Go there, you will love it! Good drinks too!

    I had the veal and my wife had the swordfish they was both excellent and the staff was great We will definitely be going back

    The service and all our food(four different entrees) were exceptional, the ambiance was warm and welcoming. We will certainly return and highly recommend the Candela Cucina!

    The hostess station was prompt and sat us on time. Our server was super sweet and attentive, but not over done. The space would benefit from a lighting and sound engineer. Removing a couple of tables would also go a long way toward ambience.  Overall the food was good and the presentation was decent. The Affogato is a tragedy. It’s probably one of the easiest desserts in the world and they couldn’t have botched it further.

    Loved all the food. Staff was great! Chicken Parm Entree - delicious NY Steak Entree - perfect Whipped Ricotta appetizer - stellar (bread served cool on purpose - ask if you want warm bread) Caesar Salad - fresh and tasty (different - intentionally deviates from conventional flavor slightly - some may not like it. I probably won’t order it again but it was nice to try a slightly different take on a Caesar) So many more menus items to try! We will be back. Glad New Bedford has another excellent restaurant.
