Traditional meets modern in this new age Caribbean cuisine restaurant brought you by Chef Tavel Bristol-Joseph of E&R Hospitality Group.

Named after the Canje pheasant, national bird of Guyana, Canje pulls inspiration not just from mainland Guyana, but from Jamaica to Puerto Rico, and all the islands in between. Our menu explores the cooking techniques, ingredients, and many expressions of vibrant food across the region.

Tucked away on the east side of Austin, this lively environment brings a unique cocktail program boasting both spirit forward and fruit driven cocktails and a small selection of natural wines alongside our inventive food menu.

Love that they were able to offer the curry vegetarian. Also loved the roti and ceviche with taro chips.

Just an amazing dining experience, from the moment we arrived until the time we were finished with dessert everything was amazing. We celebrated my wife's birthday and she went home smiling. Everything we ate was tasty and amazing. My wife even had lunch for the next day. Jerk chicken, oxtail ginger pot I can go on and on.

What a great experience! Had been driving by this place forever and always wondered what it was. We finally made it in and what a gem! Everything we had was absolutely delightful! Totally recommend the seemingly simple Pink Pineapple (make sure to mix it with the vinaigrette sauce…a flavor explosion!) and the amazing Oxtail that was perfectly tender with such an amazing Cassareep sauce! (And save room for the Cassareep Ice Cream!). [Protip: Get some of the Roti and save it to soak up the extra Cassareep sauce.] The service was super friendly and knowledgeable. The venue was beautiful inside. And nice to have a fairly unique menu offering here in Austin.

We went for NYE and I was super underwhelmed by the prix fixe menu. The food was really mediocre and extremely over priced. Additionally the restaurant was running about 30 min behind in seating us (didn’t comp a thing) and service took 3+ hours for the dinner which felt very long. Their regular menu is infinitely better and a much better experience, I will not be back for any type of prix fixe menu with them.

My friends and I attended the New Years Eve dinner at Canje. Initially excited about the tasting menu, we left dissapointed. Compared to Canje's bold flavors, the menu felt extremely tamed down and lacking in the flavors we've applauded Canje for in the past. Our hope is that it was a one time fluke. While the service was good, the time inbetween dishes was extremely long and I had to ask the kitchen to fire the last 2 courses after sitting for nearly 3 hours. They gladly accepted and happily boxed up my dessert which was kind. The servers were all very kind, I just wished it would have been noted that the meal would have taken 3+ hours in preparation for childcare and other plans. I won't be giving up on Canje any time soon, but I will say I wasn't pleased with the food or general timing as much as I would have expected for such an expensive eperience.
