Long regarded as the premier dining destination among the Hawaiian islands, this beloved institution is a gathering place for generations of friends, families and neighbors. Helmed by Executive Chef Rhoda Magbitang, CanoeHouse features thoughtful, seasonal dishes that celebrate Hawaii’s landscape through Japanese-Paniolo inspired cuisine, accompanied by craft-cocktails and diverse wine selections.

    Our second visit to Canoe House was excellent, as was the first. The radish salad, corn ribs and whole lobster were all unique and richly flavored. The pacific coast ambiance is delightful. Don’t come hungry. This restaurant is expensive even by Hawaii standards, so we ordered only a few shared dishes.

    Canoe House is a special place. The food is truly remarkable. The setting is gorgeous. Our server Dean was outstanding. He really helped make the experience special. He knows the menu and all the ingredients in great detail and was flexible in the way we ordered - allowing is to get half orders of various dishes so that we could create interesting combos. The restaurant is very expensive without a doubt. But they deliver in every way.

    Great experience overall! Food was outstanding with many choices and options including the tasting menu. We split one in two and it was plenty of food. We added a radish salad that was quite special in the dressing and ingredients. Our servers were nice and attentive although it took a while to get the various dishes. Overall it was a great experience and recommended!

    Took our grandkids for our last night on the big island. We wanted something memorable. Boy did this hit the bulls eye in every aspect. Thanks you Canoehouse team..simply incredible.

    Great experience. Can’t beat the ocean front location and view. Service and food are great. Only issue is it very pricey.

    Our experience at Canoe House was outstanding from start to finish. From the warm welcome by the hostess to the delicious cocktails, appetizers, and dinner, everything was exceptional. We were celebrating our 35th anniversary and were given a wonderful table at the edge of the dining area, closest to the beachfront. The ambiance, food, and service were all excellent. I had the fried chicken topped with honey, and my husband enjoyed the daily market fish—both were fantastic. However, there was one small detail that was missing: no toast or dessert with a candle to mark the occasion. While I didn’t necessarily need dessert, a small gesture to celebrate the milestone would have made us feel truly special. I had mentioned our anniversary both in my reservation and to the hostess, noting that this was our fifth year in a row celebrating at Canoe House. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment, which left me a little disappointed. That aside, everything else was superb, and we truly enjoyed our evening.
