   First time at Caroline’s, it was a last minute idea and it did not disappoint. The shrimp toast appetizer was a large portion and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The duck confit and pork ribeye are a must try.

   I have been watching them on social media for a couple of months and decided to take my wife to a late lunch early dinner! Cozy and quaint tucked in what could be labeled downtown Denton. The restaurant itself a retrofit in an existing home has been decorated warm and inviting but not pretentious . Starting with a bottle of Tempranillo moderately priced, not often found on smaller list but this list was very friendly and well balanced. Starters were a major challenge as every choice offered something to the imagination. We opted for “Shrimp Toast” Perfectly prepared white shrimp piled on toasted sour dough in a rich bath of light cream and shallot sauce. Not an ounce of disappointment in that choice! Dinner was just as delightful, a perfectly presented Maryland Crab cake , and from the sandwich list a jumbo lump grilled cheese on hearth bread ! Props to the chef as I will return for this item alone! This is a gem hiding just off 404, make the trip!

   We enjoyed our first visit for a late Saturday lunch. Food was fantastic and we enjoyed the ambiance. We were no rush, but service was slow, wine was forgotten, water refills were infrequent. And, it wasn’t all that busy. Still, an enjoyable meal.

   Attentive staff and delicious food! First time for hubby, I have been here before. Mini crab cakes as appetizers had lump with hardly any filler, if at all! Tasted fresh-you know what I’m talking about. Hubby liked the GF Farmer’s Pasta, and I liked the Mexi-Cali Meat Loaf that came with real mashed potatoes and shaved Brussels sprouts. Oh yeah! Can’t do much about loud people sitting near you. We will definitely be back!

   Sunday brunch was delicious. The wait for over an hour was a bit upsetting. It seems our waiter was slow or busy, unsure of which. Others were getting their food much faster after arriving after us but they had a different waiter. We had to wait a while for refills and for water a few times as well. The food was delicious!

    The restaurant is in a beautiful old home that has been restored well in the dining area. The ambiance is very nice. We were greeted upon arrival and quickly seated. After that it was about 10 minutes before someone came and filled out water glasses, she stated she wasn’t our waitress. About 10 minutes later she returned and said she was. I ordered a Caesar salad, which when it arrived was huge, the dressing was nice but the use of mostly iceberg lettuce vs romaine took away from the salad. Also the addition of tomatoes was unusual. For the main I ordered the Pork Rib Eye and asked to substitute Root Vegetables for the Brussel Sprouts, which the kitchen did. The pork was cooked well but overall the dish was bland. My wife ordered the Double Hamburger, it was also cooked properly but the bacon jam was too sweet for her taste, once she removed it she enjoyed the burger. The fries however were uncooked and partially raw. We have to travel about 45 minutes to get to any good restaurant where we live and we were hoping Caroline’s could be added to the small list we have from the lower part of Delaware, unfortunately we need to continue to frequent the beach.
