Pros: Restaurant was beautiful, elevated, relaxing environment. Waitress did a wonderful job explaining, friendly, patient, did her best to be attentive. Food was good, clearly made to order in freshness and temperature, and was presented nicely. The octopus was the best I’ve had in Charlotte. Cons: Though parking is no way the restaurants fault, the parking ticket machine was broken and made for a very stressful start. We did call the restaurant three times to try to let them know we were running late beyond our control (car was literally pinned in by others) and could not get in touch. When we finally arrived 15 mins later, we stood at the front for a while before a host appeared. We saw a waitress notice and clearly be concerned, but since there seemed to be a full house and only two servers, she continued to focus on her and her tables. We did have to wait for a table to clear despite a reservation, but being it was the last day of Restaurant Week, we understood. We got water and menus promptly, but all else seemed slow to occur (because our waitress seemed pulled in many directions), but again we aimed to be understanding and could have been escalated by how hungry we then were. After we did start to receive dishes, it was very fluid, though the guy serving did not try to clear any plates and at a point the small table was quite full. Our lovely waitress took care of this. He also did not speak loud, so many times I was confused what was served. The rice then also was never delivered, but marked received; the waitress removed it no questions asked and instead allowed me to order a dessert to go. The chocolate cake I ordered I personally do not like; most all other dishes were very good minus a dry chicken dish. I would also add the tables were very tightly packed and caused a couple to be staring impolitely when overhearing a personal conversation, so we felt we could not have a night to relax and openly speak, which was intended on our date.

We had an amazing dinner at Catalu! The food was delicious and service was on point. My husband loved the paella!

we went for restaurant week and had an amazing experience. We’ll definitely be going back to try the pallea soon!

They allowed us to seat 15min post-reservation However an 1hr & 15min post-reservation time they began asking us to leave because they overbooked and needed the table as the food just reached our table. Very uncomfortable and unwelcoming. & when dishes like paella take 40min, you cannot overbook and rush people out within an hour. Hope they improve management & operations. Food was mid & no worth the price. Go to Barcelona for better tapas experience.

We enjoyed all the yummy tapas we tried. Nice atmosphere and wonderful service. We plan to come back soon to try the Paella. Highly recommend if you like Spanish food.

Service was great at Catalu. Great recommendations from the staff for food and cocktails. Even offered suggestions on how many servings to order per round, this was it was overwhelming and we were able to enjoy each plate.
