We took advantage of the Valentine’s Day pre fixe menu. We didn’t know what to expect, but were expecting an experience like the test kitchen on Virgin Voyages cruise lines. We are foodies and venture out a lot. The Centre Club has a trustworthy reputation. The ambiance wasn’t really romantic. The first course, tuna crudo lacked flavor. No salt, just raw fish with bitter grapefruit snd bitter greens. The server often served the wine pairing drinks after we were done with the course. The scallop was okay. The main course, chilean sea bass was really good. The lobster and wagyu were not. We’ve had wagyu many tomes, the chocolate rub was fine, but no finishing salt. The lobster was mushy like mashed potatoes, got another and it was just as bad. Two of the patrons around us also agreed. One approached us and said we were bamboozled. Two servings of lobster that were mushy, is not okay. We were reimbursed one drink we purchased, but do think thats fair for a $300 meal. We never intend to get money back on any meal. We were also sat right by the hostess and asked if we could sit somewhere else. We were told they were booked and, though people showed up well after us and some tables never occupied even 2 hours after we arrived snd when we finished. It sucks complaining, but we could have spent the same money somewhere else and ordered what we wanted. Also a lot of truffle on the menu and the appetizer item of grapefruit and raw fish is not consumable by those who’ve had a transplant (raw fish and grapefruit are no-nos, there were no other options). Not the experience you want for valentines day. We’ve cooked the same meal at home that was better, but didn’t want that this year and I feel bad for the husbands that tried. I saw one husband have his partner try the lobster and she shook her head “no”. The couple next to us agreed. So close, but just not it.
