Chandler’s is a locally-owned, upscale dinner house specializing in prime steaks and jet-fresh seafood located in Hotel 43 in beautiful downtown Boise. Enjoy a craft cocktail, including the famous Ten Minute Martini, or a glass from our award-winning wine list. Featuring live jazz every night and complimentary valet parking. Chandlers is the recipient of the DiRona award which recognizes distinguished restaurants of North America and is the Treasure Valley's only Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Restaurant. The wine list features over 700 selections and 30 wines by the glass, and we have been recognized by Wine Spectator for our wine list every year, including four consecutive years earning the Best Award of Excellence.

Chandler's has been my favorite and first choice for upscale, special occasion, and date night events for many years. I have never been disappointed in any aspect of service, food, or beverage until this reservation. I love that Chandler's has always done "very, very rare" and "blue" steak perfectly. This visit our waiter explained that blue/very, very rare preparation would be impossible as all of their steaks are dry aged; followed by a long explanation that I tuned out.Then he backtracked and stated i could get my steak "very rare." It was all confusing, and I wanted to focus on my guests, so I just ordered the meat. It came out medium rare, full of fat, charred black on the outside, and disgusting. I left it on the plate 1/4 eaten. I didn't make a big deal then because I did not wish to cause my guests discomfort. My husband's Mahi Mahi was unremarkable. Other guests did not comment on their food; not a good sign in this group. The server was condescending and appeared somewhat irritated with us the entire night. Then, rather than asking if we wanted our check divided, he brought out the bill in its entirety and gave it to me as "the reservation is in your name." I then had the uncomfortable task of telling him it needed to be divided while everyone was staring at us. This is not at all what I expected from this landmark. I'm embarrassed I suggested this to my friends colleagues as a place where we could go for an elegant night. I assured them "the price is worth it because the service and food is pretty perfect." Not this time. Frankly, I don't know if there will be a next as I'm so upset after this reservation.

Tiffeny, thank you for providing your feedback to us. We chose to discuss your experience with our management team. We do not prepare our steaks black and blue as it requires an open flame which is not how we prepare our steaks. We DO offer it extra rare; however, that is NOT recommended for a fatty steak, such as a ribeye. In fact our servers are to request our floor managers approval. The fat needs to be cooked for flavor and texture, and guests should be aware of the compromise, if left rare. We do train our team with professional meat purveyors on a routine basis. I am happy to give you a tour of our kitchen preparing a ribeye! When guests make reservations, the hosts' name is the person whom we present the check unless arranged otherwise. We never ask about splitting.
