The Charcoal Steak House is an independent local steakhouse serving the Waterloo region community for over 65 years. Enjoy AAA Steaks, richly marbled wagyu, slow roasted prime rib, fresh seafood, mouth-watering pig tails, legendary smoked ribs and more. At lunch we feature an extensive menu with burgers, sandwiches, bowls and healthy salad choices.

Sundays are made for Brunch from 9:00am - 1:00pm.

Our Martinis Bar with summer patio offers the full Steak House menu or light meals in a more casual setting. Enjoy appetizers, a full meal, 20 beers on tap and beautiful outdoor seating area in summer.

    We had a lovely time celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary! The service, food and ambiance were all amazing, and our server even brought a complimentary dessert. Charcoal has always been one of our favourite restaurants as we held our small and intimate legal wedding ceremony there 10 years ago. It never disappoints.

    It was a great experience from beginning to end. The only complaint would be the parking is limited at peak times. The service was amazing, food was awesome and was overall a great value.

    We had a nice dinner out with my family, celebrating my sons birthday. The food was delicious, a bit over priced we thought. Our steaks were great and the drinks were delicious with lots of selections. We really enjoyed our specialty coffees afterwards. The coconut creme brulee did not taste like coconut at all, so very disappointed with that. Our waitress did tell me that it was plant based and would taste different then the regular one, which was ok with me as long as I had the coconut taste, wouldn't order that again. One of our sons were surprised that you had to pay for the bread basket, the Keg offers this for free, I hadn't thought of that, but yes I agree for the price of the food a few pieces of bread and butter would have been nice to snack on before our meal came. The service was slow, I asked for a second drink and never received it. Not sure if we would return unless someone specifically asked for this restaurant.

    Great experience! Top notch service from Robin, she was awesome! Atmosphere was perfect to hold a meaningful conversation and not worried about anyone hearing us. All in all wonderful experience

    As always, an amazing experience at Charcoal! The service is always unmatched and I’m always so happy when we visit. And the cocktails? NEVER miss. Super creative and absolutely delicious.
