Chef 21 has the opportunity to have a really special dinning experience and they’re really missing the mark. The food is great. And that’s all. We have been 3 times (ONLY because of the food and convenience with it being open on holidays) but the service is severely lacking. They seem to be consistently understaffed or either the staff just needs hospitality training. I really do understand the service industry is tough to manage and staff which causes me to never really write reviews like this but we have given several opportunities and it just seems worse each time (since our first visit on Christmas). I really hope they can get it together

horrendous — despite arriving on time for our 8:30 reservation, they simply said “we can’t fit you in” at which point, that left me speechless. Then when I pointed out an empty Korean BBQ table, they “squeezed” us in. No one came over to even fill our water glasses let alone take a drink order…after 25 min, we got up and left. The hostess acted surprised no one came to welcome us but did nothing to rectify this. Quite frankly, sure what was worse — the rudeness of the staff who could have cared less that our reservation couldn’t be honored nor the lack of service or the complete disregard. I was sincerely looking forward to dinner here and will likely never try this place again given how we were treated. Not the way I wanted to close out 2024.

Had 715 reservation for Korean BBQ table. Got seated at 745 at Sushi table because it was available. Ordered one drink that took 30 minutes to get there. Food was excellent but restaurant was not ready for NYE crowd.

Good food - service was slow and we had a BBQ table that was not working as expected. Took an hour to get the food and another hour to cook/eat. Very crowded and cramped. They were a ready as we were to be done and move on - they should consider the time between their reservations.

I had reservations but still had to wait 20 minutes to get seated. The wait staff were not friendly, except for one African American woman who was helping to refill drinks. She is the only reason I left a tip. The restaurant was packed and there was not enough employees working. The food was cold. I wouldn’t eat there again.
