Chez Delmo first opened in 1934. Today, the restaurant remains in hommage to the original owners Delisle and Morissette (Delmo) and continues to be a favourite for regulars and visitors alike.
Just minutes away from the Notre Dame Basilica in the Old Port, Chez Delmo continues to serve fresh and premium quality seafood prepared in a traditional French style combined with a modern flair. The house specialty is the Dover Sole meunière and the classic tomato cream soup which have been virtually unchanged for decades.

The service and food were both fantastic. Our server “David” and even the owner “Benoit” went out of the way to make sure we were satisfied. And we were! This was not our first time here, and Chez Delmo will always be at the top of our destination list when we’re in Montreal.

Le serveur est avenant ert bon conseiller. Les Fettuccini aux fruits de mer sont excellentes. Le patron est sympa. Une adresse à retenir.

Encore une fois une note parfaite en tout pour ce restaurant. Nourriture,ambiance,cocktail ainsi que le personnel sont juste incroyable Bravo

NYE 2nd service was terrible. We had an 815 service and got in at 8pm hoping to get a head start on dinner, but we were told there would be no way because people were still eating at “our” table. So we waited until 815 to check again, and was told again that the table wasn’t ready. They finally seated us at 830, so we decided to order both drinks and food if our server came by. Server finally dropped by around 845, we order everything and wait 30 minutes for our drinks to show up. We asked what the delay was and he said the bar was full, I took a look at the bar and it was not full. Maybe the bar was busy with orders from dinner service, but definitely not full. We told our server that we had a bit of a time crunch, we had a bar reservation at our hotel at 1030pm and we’re hoping to have dinner finished in a reasonable time for that, which really just means paying the bill by 1015pm. And here we are at 915 and just received our 1st course, an hour after our seating time. We ask the server if we could get things out quicker as we have a 1030pm bar reservation at our hotel, and he says he’ll put a rush on our food. So 2nd course is out at 940, 3rd course at 950, and I’m think ok great our 4th should come out in 10 min now? No, our 4th course arrived at 1030 and of course, my steak was overcooked. We asked for the dessert to go and the bill right away and I had to call the bar for our other reservation to change the time to 11, and even then, we were still late getting in. We paid $367CAD not including tip and we had lag time of 80 minutes with no drinks or food during this service, along with an overcooked very thin ribeye, and bread that showed up with our 3rd course instead of when we sat down. Very disappointed and upsetting for that to be our last dinner of 2024.
