Inspired by the warmth and vibrancy of Jamaica’s culture and people, Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen is a take on traditional Jamaican cooking balanced with relevant culinary twists. Co-founded as a passion project by Gusto 54 founder Janet Zuccarini and Angela Lawrence, Gusto 54’s Chief Culture Officer, Chubby’s is a celebration of their long friendship, and their love and respect for the island’s food and all the amazing Jamaican cooks they know.

Located in a circa-1890 row house re-envisioned by Partisans Architects and interior designer Wendy Haworth, Chubby’s boasts two floors of seating, two bars, and two outdoor patios. It melds old and new, inside and out to create a transporting dining experience complete with delicious Caribbean cooking, eclectic design and soulful hospitality. Chubby's is also a Michelin Guide CA - rated restaurant.

Went to chubby's for my first time yesterday, LOVE the decor, server was amazing and so helpful, and the food was delicious. Can't wait to come back here.

Cute spot that has the vibe chech - I loved the detail to the decor, furniture booths and artwork. However, I didn’t get to enjoy this as much as we were cramped into a 2 seater table that really shouldn’t have been a spot. Our chairs barely fit to be pulled out against a cramped wall and the table was wobbling like crazy. The jerk chicken was the star alongside the slaw that was refreshing and brought the zing. Oxtail w rice was served in 2 separate bowls which seemed just odd not really like full entree (very pricy for a small bowl of mostly bones), I wish there was more beans to the rice. Plantains were a hit.

Chubby’s is one of my absolute favourite spots in the city! It gets a bit dark downstairs with just candlelight and very low lighting so you can’t really read the menu or see your food but it’s all delicious when it arrives!

The food was incredible. I had the goat curry. The rum punch was amazing! I sampled some jerk chicken which was delicious as well as ox tail soup. Our waiter provided great service. I can appreciate why this place has so many Michelin stars!

It was the best meal we’ve had outside of Jamaica and my Grandma Daisy’s kitchen! We’ll be back a few more times before we leave town next week! It was exceptional!!
