Welcome to The Coastguard, we are located on the bay of St Margarets, with a beautiful view of France surrounded by the White Cliffs. The Coastguard offers a cosy and warm atmosphere with a roaring fire, complete with stunning views and delicious food.

Dogs are very welcome in our bar area & outside.

Please note the seating in the bar is limited so please do call ahead if you wish to eat inside and bring your dog.

By reading this message, you are agreeing to our terms and reservation policy: for parties of 12 or more, private room bookings, or special menu bookings (such as Christmas, Mother’s day, etc, we will take your credit card details to confirm the booking. Nothing will be charged to your card initially, however in the event of a cancellation within 72 hours we reserve the right to charge 50% of the menu price, and within 24 hours or for a ‘no show’ the full price to your card.

                                                            Three of us had dinner. I had a starter of scallops with black pudding truffle followed by hake. Excellent meal. The people I was with had mussels and vegetable spring roll as starters followed by fish and chips they were both very impressed with the standard.

                                                            Lovely to sit outside looking at the sea - an amazing location. It was great to have such a warm welcome and friendly service throughout. Food was really good - in particular the main course hake and sea bass which were delicious.

                                                            We booked a table at the Coastguard for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. The staff welcomed us with a glass of champagne, and were very welcoming on the first day of opening. Highly recommend and we will be returning in the near future.

                                                            Overall very average. Decor is nice, and location on the beachfront is fantastic. Despite having a booking for dinner, we were seated basically on our own in a corridor upstairs, not the restaurant or bar, and had very little attention from the waitresses. We did ask to move to a table in the restaurant if one came available, but even when one did, we were left where we were. Given it was the night before lockdown the menu was almost sold out so choice was very thin. Having ordered just 2 mains, we waited almost an hour for them. Food was simply, average. Might be different when fully staffed and fully stocked. Would recommend for drinks in the summer maybe, but sadly dinner was a let down.

                                                            The staff are super friendly and helpful. The food is delicious! We went for the first time on Monday 2nd November and enjoyed it so much we went back on the 4th!!
