Compère Lapin - noun - "kom-pare la-pan" - 1. anthropomorphic rabbit character who served as the mischievous protagonist in Creole and Caribbean folk tales; 2. Chef Nina Compton's restaurant at the Old No 77 Hotel & Chandlery in the Warehouse Arts District of New Orleans.

    Waited a VERY long time for the small plate (biscuits), and this was the only good thing we ate. NO flavor in any of the entrees (and their accompaniments) ordered (fried chicken, snapper). The garden mocktail was refreshingly good. Ran out of the crab fingers so we didn’t get to try.

    Disappointed at the long delay in getting dinner served. Some of the dishes were not as seasoned as they could be (ie snapper). Restaurant was so dimly lit that you could not read the menu.

    Everything was delicious. My table selected the “Just feed me” option, and we got so much food - probably over two-thirds of the menu. Such a wonderful experience!!

    We enjoyed the "just feed me" option on the menu and it was the perfect way to spend a birthday. Cisco at the bar was fun, engaging and informative, plus Francesca gave wonderful service and attention, plus great wine suggestions. All the food was amazing, especially the papaya salad, fried chicken and of course the curried goat.

    Cocktails, biscuits and my snapper were the hits of the evening. The bacon butter with the biscuits is next level.

    So deliscious! The space is also gorgeous with lots to ogle as you await your food, but the food is spectacular. The biscuits were the best I have ever had. (TX native) the smoked fish was delicate and yummy. The curried goat was a wonderful flavorful stew with no gamyness and I finished with mango crème brûlée. So far the best meal I’ve had in NOLA which is a high bar as I’ve never had a subpar meal in this city.
