Cooks & Soldiers brings the cuisine and cultural experience of Spain’s Basque region to the flourishing West Midtown area. The menu is divided into “pintxos tradicionales,” or tapas-like snacks served atop toasted bread; “pinxtos especiales,” or Basque-inspired small plates; “asador” including a variety of wood-grilled fish, meats and vegetables; and a selection of unique and modern desserts. Behind the bar, Cooks & Soldiers offers guests an extensive collection of Basque and Spanish wines, txakoli and ciders, in addition to craft beer and signature cocktails. The cocktail list places a heavy emphasis on gin, offering a seasonal selection of house-infused tonics blended into gin tonics and other popular libations.

Not impressed with the food - had feuillete- was too sweet and we could tell that it had jamon in it , had mountain bread - the bead was perfectly baked and with a crunchy top with zatar, grilled oyster - nothing to talk about, duck- it was perfect , stuffed blue crab -has too much of spice and was overpowering and there was no taste of the crab itself

We have been to Cooks & Soldiers many times. We love the atmosphere and always have great service. The food is top tier and has great presentation. We will return many more times.

Cooks and Soldiers has been an annual NYE dinner spot for my wife and I for the last 4 years. We keep coming back because of the exceptional food, drinks, and service. Unfortunately, they fell short this time. Maybe it was just an off night all around, but we left disappointed and surprised. Ambiance was fine. It’s a bit loud and lively, but nothing unexpected or offensive. The service was a bit disjointed, which I can also accept given that it’s a holiday night. However, we were most disappointed by the food quality. We ordered the whole Branzino (as we have in prior years), along with several sides. Everything tonight seemed over-sauced and over-seasoned. Definitely missed the mark this time around, and we didn’t even eat most of the food on the table. I would say everything was “okay” tonight, but okay isn’t the expectation when you spend $300 on a dinner for two. Positives… wine selection and cocktails were good as always. Overall, a disappointment and we may have to rethink our annual NYE plans in the future. Might have to give them a try on another night to see if this one was just an outlier.

The atmosphere and food are simply amazing. Very nice restaurant in West Midtown. Lots of other restaurants and bars nearby and the lovely Bellyard is right next door. We chose 7 Tapas/Appetizers. They were all exquisite. We loved the plating and we loved the amazing taste. The place is extremely loud. The music should be turned down so one can hear their guests speak. While our waiter was very friendly, he was very difficult to find to request drinks, etc. We will definitely be back.

We arrived late to our reservation and were still given a table. Our small kids were also accommodated. Things like this matter a lot to young families on Christmas Eve. Thank you!

As ALWAYS, our server, JO, provided yet another OUTSTANDING dining experience. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. The food was equally incredible; the revamped lavender crème brûlée is a game-changer. 🤩 The moment that solidified my fondness for this place is when my sister (the other guest dining with me) noticed the attentiveness and teamwork practiced amongst the staff both FOH and BOH. In addition to our server and support staff, Deja (the GM) also visited our table, offering to assist us with anything we needed. Nowadays, with the overabundance of “cash grabs” in the city that lack substance and fail to grasp the fundamentals of hospitality, the top-notch dining experience provided at Cooks and Soldiers is so refreshing. Please keep up the great work!!! 👏🏾
