Upping hospitality and embracing diversity is what we strive for at Counter & Bodega. We are a full service sit down restaurant and bar located in the heart of Chelsea, New York, featuring authentic Puerto Rican and Multi-Latin comfort food. We provide a cozy and welcoming setting offering excellent service, signature libations inspired by beverages found in any NYC local bodega, along with both traditional and unique food menu items. During warm weather enjoy outside dining in our cozy garden backyard. Every year we remember my mom by having an authentic Puerto Rican dinner. I always try new places and this year found the gem that is Counter & Bodega. The service and food were excellent, the waitress suggested my fiancé have the mofongo with skirt steak, which was delicious. I had the Pernil with rice and beans, also delicious. The ambiance was fantastic as they had salsa playing, but not so loud we couldn't have a conversation. Overall a great experience with great food and friendly service. I will definitely be going back soon.

The food was delicious!!! Our server was fantastic! The drinks were amazing and we had a great time. We ordered a few dishes and shared amongst our group. The empanadas were delectable and the Mofongo was very tasty. The enchiladas were good, but we decided it would have been better as chicken and not steak. Everything was eaten all up and demolished…job done! We enjoyed all of our food!

I wanted to really enjoy this place however was not very impressed. Our seating area had a stent of like a wet rag. Bathroom was not tidy. Food was ok… the best part was the Alcapurias.. rice was a little on the hard side. Drinks were nice and the waiters were pleasant. Don’t think I will be returning.

The food was great! It was as though someone’s abuela was in the kitchen cooking. Although the ran out of pernil my partner and I had pollo guisado and bistec. The drinks were strong and tasty! And the service was great!

On the phone, I was warned of the 15 minute grace period because they were so slammed. When we arrived they were at best half full. As I was in motion to sit in my chair, I was warned that there was a two hour max for seating. It odd to impose so many rules in a place that never got close to full for our entire meal. The server was very quick and not really interested in her tables. She told me they didn’t have diet cokes but then “found some” and it was flat and salty. So I just drank water. The food was ok. It’s definitely cool to see some authentic PR dishes but they weren’t executed well. The alcapurrias were burned. Mofongo was very dry, etc… I imagine if you’re not Puerto Rican and never ate any of our dishes, this would pass but to me it’s just ok at best. I even had to laugh because a manager passed our table and made a face at the waitress and then snatched the stack of napkins she had just put on the table. Like “why’d you give them so many napkins”. lol. Terrible. Also, what are you gonna do with them? Not the worst place I’ve eaten at but also not even close to the best. I wasn’t expecting high end dining but I didn’t expect this mediocrity either. This is a one and done for us…

The service her was really good. I arrived early and the restaurant was t open yet. They let me come inside and sit to wait for my friends. Overall the food was very good. Authentic, tasty and decent sized portions.
