William Crawford of Portsmouth, Virginia, was a man woven deeply into the fabric of his
community’s history. Crawford was known for his ambition and unwavering commitment to Portsmouth's people. He worked tirelessly to improve the shipyards, establishing Portsmouth as a respected site for shipbuilding. Under his influence, Portsmouth became known as a welcoming harbor, a town where people could start anew.
The Crawford Restaurant was designed to provide a one-of-a-kind, off-the-radar, local
encounter that adds richness and detail to the Portsmouth dining scene by embracing
its history with a touch of modern intricacies. The vision of The Crawford Restaurant is
to inspire and provoke an exploration of your palate to savor, sip, and discover
something wonderfully new. The dishes created, the spices we have chosen,
and the aroma of the candles at each table are hand-selected to create memories and
intriguing stories that leave our guests yearning for more.

                                                      We had date night and I enjoyed it very much. Chef came out and greeted us. We had the charcuterie and wine. Then mushroom bread and lamb chops was delicious

                                                      Our waitress Brittany was outstanding. She worked our table and others very hard. I cannot say enough about how great she was. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. Our dining experience lasted almost 2 hours, 45 minutes before we got our 1st drink. I have tried this restaurant several times and they just don't seem to get it. The service has always been extremely slow. I wish it was better since it is a great venue with lovely views.

                                                      I throughly enjoyed my time at The Crawford! It was fast service and the food was divine! I also loved the Lavender Lemon Drop Martini I had. I will definitely be back!

                                                      Went during restaurant week. Loved the renovations and the ambiance. Our server was wonderful! We ordered the salmon. It was over cooked, but the rest of the meal was terrific in taste and presentation. Would go again.

                                                      Lovely dining room ; food was delicious; servers seemed to be in training so they were a little slow but trying hard. Although our reservation for 8 on open table was made several days ahead, the wait staff did not appear to have had notice but again, they were trying very hard … We will go back!
