The Crown & Mitre is a Grade II listed building built as private houses in the 1600's and converted into a pub in 1743.
Since that date the premises have retained not just the name but also the licence. It’s now an independent freehold pub business. We have recently taken over and are eager to create something unique to King’s Lynn.

As an established company and our key team having over 100 years experience in the licensed trade, we bring all our love for great food, wine and beer to the Crown & Mitre for your delight.

Located at the end of Ferry St on the shores of the great River Ouse the pub is steeped in nautical memorabilia that adds a touch of quirkiness and gets you wondering how old they are and where it all came from.

This menu is designed for a quick and tasty bite before or after your show. Unfortunately, not the great experience we were expecting. I will put it down to a bad day in the kitchen but am reluctant to re-visit, especially at those prices. My wife's meal was prepared incorrectly, despite her being offered an alternative due to an allergy. We were told it would need to be prepared all over again, even though we had been waiting a while. Very unprofessionally, the waiter asked if I would like my meal bringing out so I could get started... I stated that we were here for a meal together so that would be unsatisfactory. I then asked if that meant my meal would just sit & dry out whilst waiting.... he giggled, shrugged & said 'well, yeah". When my wife's came out, it wasn't what was expected at all. For my meal, which HAD begun to dry out, I asked for mash instead of chips with my pork chop... and that is ALL I got... no trimmings, extras that I would have expected. Nice pork but not great value for money at all.

Lovely food and good choice of menu. The conservatory has good river views. Staff very friendly but not very proactive with dessert menus or bill. Too busy clearing tables to attend to customers.

Lovely food as usual. Lobster bisque special was special. Overlooking the river. Great service. Our favourite place to eat or have a pint in town.

The Crown & Mitre is such a unique building with so much memorabilia within the premises. We have been a few times in the last year and would say its menu gives a good choice & generous sides! The staff are all great & happy to chat and help with recommendations. A fantastic place and lovely setting.

Great place to eat. From the warm welcome from the staff to the fantastic food that was served. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

Excellent meal - a warm welcome, cracking food, ales and wine My only comment, we always order your delicious selection of Norfolk cheeses for dessert and will ask at commencement of meal so it’s out of the fridge

My wife and I last visited the Crown and Mitre in March 2024. A year on and quite a bit has changed there- it was very nice in March…but it’s spot on now. The finer details have been honed. We ate upstairs with the river view-as always. The windows have been replaced,as has the old radiator (with air con/climate units)-it was on the ‘cool’ side last time but it’s really,really comfortable now(a massive difference). We opted for the three course meal-and everything from the starter to the dessert was just superb. I cook a lot at home so I suppose it makes me a bit on the ‘fussy’ side, but I really couldn’t fault anything about the food…or the Shiraz.. A big thank you to Will for making us feel welcome(we love the improvements you’ve made to our favourite pub)-but a special thank you to Lydia and Louis who are a real credit to the whole experience at the Crown and Mitre (a place is nothing without the proper staff-and they very much are). We’ve decided that we need to visit more often….so we’ll see you next month ! Jon and Debs

Booked 3 course express for a show… We were a little late but after 1 hour of waiting we had to leave for the show and only had been served a starter. We won’t return here again. Also very noisy and impossible to talk.
