Welcome to the Detroit Fish House Steak & Oyster Bar
We are a new seafood, steak and oyster bar located in Shelby Township, MI.

At the Detroit Fish House, we are committed to excellence in all that we do. Our seafood is all “top of the catch” and impeccably fresh and the wines are hand-selected from all over the world to complement our menu. The most important component though is, of course, our service. It is the mission of the Detroit Fish House to exceed our guests’ expectations for extraordinary food, beverages and guest service in a warm & welcoming facility. This will be accomplished through the relentless pursuit of excellence in all of our menu items, an unwavering commitment to exceptional guest service and our sincerest desire to treat everyone as if they were a guest in our own home.

    Our first time to the Detroit Fish house was not as good as we hoped. We were seated promptly and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere was very nice and not too loud. It took longer than expected to get our set ups - water, drink order, bread basket. Our waitress and other staff were very friendly and checked up on us often. The disappointment(s) started with my drink, a premium dirty martini that was described as having 3 stuffed olives, garlic and anchovy, what i received was 2 olives and a very weak drink for $15. Next came our sides, we both ordered coleslaw that was very dry and looked like it had been out of the cooler all day. Our waitress apologized and replaced them with soup which was good. Our main course meals were presented nicely and tasted good. Bottom line, when you pick a “higher end” restaurant - like the Detroit fish house - you should expect and get a high quality drinks and fresh food for the money.

    A bit bummed when arriving for our reservation (10 minutes early) we were being seated in the bar. I Stated we preferred the dining room and the gentleman at the hostess stand seemed quite put out about the request. I made the reservation a week in advance, there was clearly seating available and when I made the reservation I was given the choice of a high top (bar) or dining room and I opted for dining room.

    My husband and I have dined here in the past and have always enjoyed it. We’ve enjoyed the lobster bisque, oysters, and various entrees like the salmon dishes several times but this is the first time that we’ve been here for Thanksgiving dinner. This was kind of a last minute reservation so all that was available for our party of 6 was high top seating. I’d never sat in that section so I wasn’t sure how comfortable it would be but there was no reason to have had any worries. It was quite comfortable. Some of us opted for the plated Thanksgiving dinner. I’ll admit I’m not a big fan of turkey but I ordered it anyway. It was the best I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It was juicy and flavorful and came with tasty traditional sides. Last year we went to a restaurant that’s considered very upscale and cost twice as much but this was much better. The service was great. I didn’t get our waiter’s name since I missed it and didn’t see it on the bill otherwise I’d call him out for being personable and attentive. When our plates were presented, additional wait staff helped our waiter so that all plates were presented at once. I highly recommend DFH for an evening out or for a special occasion and will consider returning next Thanksgiving.

    The food was delicious and the staff was so attentive and friendly! I had the swordfish and shrimp n’awlins and I loved it. Would definitely go again.

    This place has lost its ambience. The atmosphere was dark and dingy. Not the place it used to be.

    We were happy to introduce friends to one of our favorite places, Detroit Fish House. The food was fabulous, as always, as was the service.

    Kyle was an amazing server. I would not hesitate to request him as my sever at future visits. He was very attentive and informative and did not stop by to often. Food was great as always.
