    I would not recommend this place. Stripsteak is next door and a much better value with better food. The steak here is $68 and over cooked and overall ambience is blah. Came 30 mins early for our reservation and was told we would be seated immediately, after 15 mins we followed up and they said oh, we are seating the other reservations… why not just say “we will seat you closer to your reservation time” ??? We could have walked around. Would never eat here again, not worth it. Service ok Food blah - I would compare it to a diner Ambience - 5/10

    Eating House 1849 is our favorite place in Waikiki. We ordered Pau Hana Collection during Happy Hour. Plenty of delicious food. Server was attentive. Ukulele player was wonderful! Will definitely return!

    We enjoyed returning to the Eating House after a few years hiatus. We were greeted with an edamame bowl, a Roy’s signature. The Chicken Spring Rolls were tasty and satisfying. The Seafood Paella was delicious, flavorful with a spicy undertone with a perfect crust on the bottom. We ended the meal with the Chocolate Soufflé- another winner. The staff were attentive and we enjoyed watching the kitchen through the glass partition.

    Our dinner at Eating House 1849 was outstanding, from start to finish. We were greeted and welcomed by two friendly women at the host desk, and one of them seated us a couple of minutes later. Our server, Sage, provided top-notch service and made sure we had everything we needed, with the help of another friendly staff member named Louis. When it started to mist, the entire front of house staff quickly and quietly helped all of us to move to tables where we wouldn’t get wet. The food was amazing. The tender short ribs with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies was a hit with my husband, and I loved the salmon with the red Thai curry set. We ended the meal with a delicious spiced caramel and apple crumble dessert with vanilla ice cream (order ahead if you want this), plus a yummy blueberry scone, presented by Sage as a thank-you for dining at Eating House 1849. We were so impressed with the friendliness and warmth of the entire staff from start to finish, including John, one of the managers, who spoke to every table of diners, assuring all of us that if we needed anything to make our meal better, to please let him know. We can’t wait to go back!

    All staff -except person at the front desk - were very upbeat and friendly! Wonderful food and service with a warm smile. Highly recommend!

    It's been a long while since I last came here. I believe is was shortly before 2019's unfortunate pandemic. Anyways, my expectations were surpassed from my memories. The food and service tonight were quite excellent and my birthday dinner guest really enjoyed herself. I, myself, only had 2 of the drinks and had a little of all the food except the Seafood Medley and Oysters. Spiced Apple Crisp: 9/10. I personally really enjoyed this. It had a nice crisp crust and the apples were still not too cooked or soft so it had great textures. The mix of flavors went well together for a great finish to the meal. Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle: 10/10. This is the trademark dessert that should always be eaten at least once. I can't describe how happy I get when I have some (or all). Must have. Coffee Creme Brulee: 7/10. It was good, but we had the Souffle and the crisp. It was outdone and I felt bad for it. I had good flavor and the Biscotti was a nice addition. Espresso Martini: 8/10. I'm not really a coffee drinker so I don't often try something like this. I personally could drink several if it wasn't work in the morning tomorrow. Butterfish Kamameshi: 9/10. Not a traditional kamameshi. It does have the right amount of ingredients to be considered a kamameshi but they are all on top of the rice. I felt this was a pretty interesting take and the butterfish itself was quite tasty. Tender Beef Shortribs: 9/10. Like the name states, they are very tender (boneless!) Shortribs with a nice vegetable Medley. I admit that I had a larger portion of this dish compared to the others. Pineapple Martini: 10/10. This is the right mix of flavors and the Pineapple itself has a nice kick since it is marinated in alcohol. This drink can be dangerous and you'll feel the alcohol later! Lychee Martini: 7/10. Good and refreshing. Unfortunately, it does not compare to the Pineapple or Espresso Martinis. The service was quite attentive even through their busy night and often cleared our plates
