ELEM is a new restaurant and cocktail lab on Main + 5th.

Guests can expect to indulge in Top Chef Canada alum Mayekar’s bold cooking, featuring creative flavour-packed dishes that highlight the unique spices from cuisines around the world with local ingredients, alongside Winnie Sun’s inventive, element-inspired and sustainability-driven cocktails.

ELEM’s food menu is an exploration of flavours and spices from all corners of the world, including Bangkok, California, Spain, Mexico, Italy, and Mumbai – all inspired by Mayekar’s extensive travels and Indian heritage. There will also be a big focus on local BC-grown ingredients.

The 2,946 square foot, 76-seat space was designed by Vancouver-based Marko Simcich Architect and features three dining spaces and an open window into the kitchen to see the chefs at work.

This place was so fun, the ambience reminded me of the movie ‘the menu’ in the best way possible, our waiters were so lovely and gave suggestions based on our preferences. My fav dish was the lamb, it’s a must get! Would come back to try more of the menu

Excellent food and service. We tried the "Let us cook for you" tasting menu. All dishes were from the à la carte menu, and they asked if there were any dishes you wanted to try in particular. We chose one dish which came in due course. We enjoyed every dish. No misses. Presentation, flavour, textures, all imaginative, and delicious. Food and flavour influences from around the world. Service was excellent. Attentive without being intrusive. Each dish was described, the chef's background was told when we asked, and the overall goal of the restaurant was told. There was lots of staff so even though the restaurant was busy it was clear that everyone was getting good service. Dishes were served one at a time, except for two starters that overlapped a bit. Elem has a very nice cocktail menu. I tried the Chef’s Negroni which clearly had a classic negroni in its ancestry, but was a inventive and enjoyable take on this classic. The Seoul was a nice fruity drink, but not sweet - nice balances citrus flavours. They seem to have put a lot of effort into the cocktail menu which is reflected in their prices. There is a wine list, but we just had the server suggest a wine to us. The Italian red we tried was an excellent and rare wine featuring a grape I'd never heard of before. Elem is great place to go if you are looking for an elevated fine dining experience.

This a hidden gem. The food and drinks were amazing! The cocktails elements were Air, Fire, Water and Earth. They were all interesting. The food was excellent the waiters and the staff were very friendly.

The food was absolutely amazing, especially the crab toast, which was perfectly executed and bursting with flavor. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who really enhanced the dining experience. The restaurant itself is stunning, with thoughtful details that made the evening feel special. I loved the motivational speeches playing in the bathroom, a unique and inspiring touch to the ambiance.

The food was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. However, the final dish was a bit too salty for our taste. The service was outstanding! Our server went above and beyond by describing every dish in detail, making the dining experience both informative and enjoyable.

It was incredible!! We ordered the Crab toast, Mushroom Risotto and Lamb Skewers. Each item was literally 10/10. The mushroom risotto was our favorite. The service was incredible from the moment we got in. Highly recommend going here!!

Truly one of the best dining experiences In vancouver. The "let us cook for you" tasting menu for $98 is a fantastic value as we received at least 9 dishes for three of us and were fully satisfied. The lamb skewers, crab toast and popcorn dessert are unforgettable.

We were all super excited to give ELEM a try and we had a great time! Service was amazing, and they gave a cute little tour of the place as we got to our table - love the focus on sustainability re: the decorative elements within the restaurant. It's pretty fancy in a modern-traditional way; I'll admit to a few "The Menu" movie jokes as we entered and got seated. Starting with some cocktails we got a few recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Stand outs were Prawn Fried Rice and the Salsa Verde (especially if you're on the trendy spicy marg train). As a party of 4 it was hard to narrow down food selections so we took a few recommendations. We had the Bread & Butter (always have to try house bread) and considered it an A+ in our books (we talked about how the bread quality always gives us a signal as to how the rest of the night will go), and to start we did a trio of raw dishes - the Venison Tartare, Kanpachi Crudo, and the Yellowfin Tuna. Tartare and Crudo were both praised in particular. From there we enjoyed the Cabbage, the Lamb Skewers, the Prawn Fried Rice (dish this time, not the drink! Though they DO pair well together), and the Whole Grilled Fish. The first three were excellent - as someone who always needs a salad or veggie dish as part of the meal I thought the cabbage was SO GOOD. Lamb Skewers were a party fave, and we all liked the rice as well - it's hard to really get us jazzed about "fancy" fried rice, but it definitely tasted great. The grilled fish was the only disappointment - it wasn't bad by any means, but I'll say the adobo side was definitely better than the chutney side. Overall it just didn't hit the same mark as the other dishes. In the end it was a solid experience and I'll mentioned again that the service was something special. Everyone who we interacted with was phenomenal and there were a few small surprises/extra touches that added to the experience here and there, but I won't spoil anything here :) Thank you ELEM!
